Favorite Movies

Monday, January 8th, 2007

Okay, I got tagged to do this meme a few days ago by Loretta. I finally have time to sit down and think about which movies to put in my “top five” but that doesn’t make it any easier!!

1. The Princess Bride- This is one of my all-time favorite movies. I saw it for the first time in 8th grade, and asked for it for Christmas. I wore out the VHS tape, and now I’m working on my DVD. I used to be able to quote this word for word.
2. The Disney/Pixar movies- Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc., Cars, The Incredibles, etc. I’m a big kid, and I love watching these movies. I enjoy them every time!
3. Pirates of the Caribbean (both)- Who doesn’t like a little Captain Jack?? I’ve watched both of these movies over and over again, and I still like watching them!
4. Harry Potter- So far these movies are holding up pretty well. The only problem? I can’t watch just one… I have to watch all four of them.
5. Sweet Home Alabama/The Wedding Date- two romantic comedies that I can watch over, and over, and over again. It doesn’t matter how many times I watch them, I still think they’re hilarious. And they still touch my heart… I’m a softy.

There were a TON more movies I wanted to add to the list because I’m a movie junkie!!

I tag: Ang., Karen S, and Manda.

Self Portrait Sunday

Sunday, January 7th, 2007

My friend Cass, over at DigiCass has started a new project called “Self Portrait Sunday.” I’ve decided to participate, against my better judgement. We’ll see if I manage to keep up with it longer than just today :)

Self Portrait 1-7-07

Here is my self-portrait for Sunday, January 7, 2007. You can see Lucy’s ears at the bottom of the pic! Allow me to explain this picture a little bit– I’ve only slept about 8 hours over the course of two days. My sister-in-law’s baby shower was today, and I’m exhausted! On my head, you see my sleep mask. Yep, I use one… I have enough sleeping problems, and it helps keep it dark enough to sleep. I slept for a couple of hours and got up because I was hungry. You can tell by looking at the picture that I’m still exhausted and don’t feel all that well. Hello, racoon eyes! I can’t believe how dark my hair looks! I used to be blonde, blonde, blonde. I still think of myself as a blonde, as does my driver’s license.

Well there you go, the first installment of self-portrait Sunday. I don’t have long enough arms to take a decent picture of myself, so I had to use the timer on my camera. Maybe I’ll get better at that!

HP Puzzle

Saturday, January 6th, 2007

I’ve spent ages upon ages searching for pieces to PPP’s latest puzzle scavenger hunt. I’ve found 30 pieces, but I know of at least four pieces that other people have that I do not. I’ve been through over 40 pages of searches (on more than one occasion) of Google’s Blogsearch and Technorati. I’ve added at least 100 blogs to my feed reader. I’ve been through my entire blogroll. This is frustrating. It’s a lot of work, and I hate being so far behind. That $1000 prize is taunting me to keep looking though.

In case anyone is interested, the pieces I am currently missing are 1, 4, 6, 8, 9, 12, 14, 17, 18, 28, 30, 33, 36, 37, 38, 40, 42, 43.

Rounds

Friday, January 5th, 2007

I’m sure most of you are familiar with the idea of security officer having to do rounds during their shift. What you might not know, however, is that most places consist of monitored and unmonitored rounds. There’s usually a system of checkpoints that either have a barcode or a button to be pushed with a special device.
Normally this wouldn’t be a problem, but right now the plant is on shutdown so the cleaners are stripping and waxing all of the floors in the building. Tonight there are three areas that are blocked off, yesterday there were four! That means there are buttons I can’t get to, or that I have to go a LONG way out of my way to get to. The other problem is that they move things out of the area they are waxing, and they like to block exits and stairways. It’s not fun to get to a stairway you need to use and find it blocked by a skid, not to mention that I don’t like being at the top of a stairway that is blocked at the bottom. What if there is a fire or something?? They must get things back into place by the end of the night or something because I can’t believe HES isn’t throwing a fit. Well, it’s almost over in any case. We’ll be back to full production on Sunday night or Monday morning.

The Movie Project

Wednesday, January 3rd, 2007

I’ve mentioned before that I collect DVDs with the current count over 180, but I can still never find something to watch. Why? I watch ALOT of movies. I wanted to keep track of the movies I watch in a year, out of curiosity, and see how many for one, and also how many times I watch the SAME movie over. If you’re interested in seeing what movies I’m watching, you can check out The Movie List. Hopefully I’ll keep up with it for more than a couple of weeks.

Happy Birthday Mom!

Tuesday, January 2nd, 2007

Happy Birthday to my mom! She’s a very young 44 years old today. Poor thing felt lousy all day too. We were at grandma’s tonight for Chinese food, and to take down the Christmas tree. I had to call my brother when we left to make sure he called to tell her Happy Birthday though because he still hadn’t, and she was a little bummed about that.

Other than that, my day off wasn’t very productive. I spent the whole day in bed pretty much. I took NyQuil so I crashed. My back hurts from laying in the same spot for too long though. I couldn’t help it– Lucy was stretched out next to me and snuggling and she never does that so I couldn’t bring myself to move. My back hates me for it now though!

Cookie Jars and Baby Shower Planning

Monday, January 1st, 2007

My mom and I spent a long time this afternoon putting together cookie jars for game prizes for Ash-lee’s baby shower next Sunday. They look really good. We made Toffee Bar Cruch, Chocolate Cookies, Treasure Chest Cookies, and Munchy Crunchy Cookies. If you aren’t familiar with cookie jars, it’s where you layer all the dry ingredients in a canning jar, and the person who receives them adds the butter, eggs etc and bakes the cookies. The jars were a pain in the butt to put together (we made a HUGE mess), but they are really cute. I didn’t take my camera, so I’ll have to try and get pictures at the shower.

We still have to make the sugar cookies for our decorate your own cookie station. I don’t know when we’ll do that. We didn’t get to them today… we did finish with most of the rest of the planning though, and dug up the nursery rhymes for one of the games. I still have to type them up, and try and get copies. I really hope I don’t have to be a part of giving another baby shower because there’s just a lot of work, time and MONEY involved!
