Teensy Mailboxes
February 28, 2007 on 3:45 pm | In Footprints | No CommentsReason #438 why I hate living in an apartment: the tiny mailboxes. I get a lot of what most people would call junk mail (catalogs, etc.), I have a Netflix subscription, and more magazine subscriptions that I can count. And they all like to show up on the same day, and guess what? They don’t really fit in a teeny tiny mailbox. It makes the mailman mad (yes, I’ve heard him complaining!), and then he bends up my mail, and gets it jammed in the back of the mailbox, and then I’m mad! Fun times are had all around!
Sound Effects Choir, Part Two
February 27, 2007 on 11:41 pm | In Television | No CommentsOn Sunday I mentioned watching the sound effects choir on the Academy Awards. Well, today I found a video on YouTube. So for those of you who missed the Oscars, or just missed this part, here you go. It’s really neat to hear a group of people make these sound so realistic!
AI: Boys Remix
February 27, 2007 on 10:06 pm | In American Idol, Television | No Comments
Tonight was the boys who made it through last week… as usual, I missed the first three (I think) performances. I’m not really feeling like I missed much though. I don’t know. I guess I’m just not that into any of the contestants so far. I am a big fan of Sundance, but that’s as far as it goes and most of that is from his audition!
Simon said to one of the contestants that it lacked charisma, and I had to agree with him– for several of them! The singing itself wasn’t bad, but there wasn’t much feeling behind most of the singing. I would break down who sang what, and what I thought about it, but to be honest, I haven’t gotten to know them well enough to keep them straight!!
One more thing I will say though, does anyone else get the impression that the judges are being far nicer than they would have been in previous years?? After so many seasons of American Idol, you start to get a feel for what the judges might have to say about performances, but so far I’m just seeing them not entirely willing to say “Dude, it just wasn’t good.”
Security Uniform
February 25, 2007 on 10:07 pm | In Uncategorized | 1 CommentAwhile back, I took a picture of me in my security uniform to share with a friend. Marcus and I made a deal- a picture of me in my uniform for a picture of him in his. That was back in December, but I decided to go ahead and share it with you.

Very attractive, huh? But you can see what part of my uniform that I’m missing? Go ahead, look again. Given up yet? I’ll clue you in. It’s a pen. Yep, that’s right. A pen is a required part of my uniform- it’s in the handbook! Actually, I was in charge that night, so I did have a pen, it just was sitting on top of the log book. Another required part of my uniform is a paper/a small notebook, but don’t tell anyone because I never carry one of those. The guys can just stick notebooks in the nice shirt pocket, but that doesn’t work quite so well when you’ve got, ahem, curves!
Sound Effect Choir
February 25, 2007 on 9:16 pm | In Uncategorized | 1 CommentSo who is watching the Academy Awards right now?? I’ve got one ear and one eye on the TV… One thing I did catch was the Sound Effect Choir that they just had on. It was really neat! A bunch of people making the sounds for things like water dripping, and a train. It sounded so realistic! I hope someone puts that on YouTube or something.
Westminster Abbey
February 25, 2007 on 7:42 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsI went to England in May of 2005, and I’d really love to go back. There was just so much to see that we didn’t do it justice. One place I really want to make it back to is Westminster Abbey. There is sooo much to see inside that you really need a lot of time to see it all. But that’s not the only reason… the other reason I want to go back to Westminster Abbey is in the gift shop– the rosaries. I wanted to buy one, and we had to move on before I had the chance to pick one out and buy it. Our professor promised we’d have the chance to shop when we came back for Vespers, but it just didn’t happen. So I came home without my rosary. It was very sad.
Supahstar Saturday- Marcus
February 24, 2007 on 11:45 pm | In Internet | 1 Comment
I’ve been so busy with life this week that things from cleaning to blogging have fallen by the wayside… in the shuffle, I forgot to feature last week’s Supahstar– my friend Marcus. I spend a lot of time on the internet, but I have a short list of blogs that I make sure to read every day, and his is towards the top of that list.
He’s a fellow security officer, though he looks better in his uniform than I do in mine, to be sure. And now that you’re done admiring him, maybe I should let you know that he’s single? Somebody snap him up! I tell you what, if he wasn’t 14+ hours away from me, I’d be all over that. ![]()
Besides working security, and blogging, Marcus recently started back to school to work in Radiology. He’s taking classes like Anatomy, so kudos to him because I don’t think I could memorize all of that information– I watched my mom try when she was going back to school!
He’s got enough good things going for him that I suppose I’ll have to forgive him for liking Windows Vista. Or not… I haven’t actually had hands on experience with Vista yet myself, but I have not heard good things!
So go check out Marcus’ blog. And when you’re done, make sure you head over to GeekySpeaky to see about getting involved in Supahstar Saturday yourself!

Snuggling with Pudge
February 23, 2007 on 3:57 am | In Pawprints | 10 CommentsI posted a couple weeks ago on my LJ about my needy furbabies, and they have certainly not become any less needy in the meantime. Pudge has lately taken to snuggling with me when I go to bed, which I am definitely not complaining about. He’ll let me snuggle him for awhile, and then he’ll curl up by my head. If I roll over and face the other direction, half the time, he’ll get up and move to the other side, silly boy. Sometimes it gets a little bit ridiculous though. Last night, for example… I sleep on my stomach, and Lucy was meandering all over the bed and finally settled down on the small of my back. Not to be outdone, Pudge climbed up to lay across my shoulder blades… do you know how hard it is to breathe with a twelve pound cat crushing your lungs? He didn’t stay there long, thank goodness!
These cats truly are monkey see, monkey do. I know you guys have pets, are they like that? Because of this, the amount of destruction these cats can wreak on my apartment when I’m gone is truly amazing. They have to do whatever the other one is doing, and usually whatever I’m doing too. I can’t remember the last time I peed without an audience.
Edit: I weighed Pudge. He’s not 12 lbs, he’s 15 lbs! He’s only 9 months old… this cat is gonna be HUGE when he’s done growing! I keep calling him my mountain lion.
AI: Boys vs. Girls
February 22, 2007 on 6:44 pm | In American Idol, Television | 1 Comment
I just got done watching the tapes of American Idol this week… I set the VCR so I could catch a few extra winks before work. I only caught the last hour of the guys performance, but I got the entire girls show. I’m disappointed that I missed Sundance’s performance because he’s one of the only ones that stuck out to me during the audition stage. (I missed all of the Hollywood stage as well). From watching the recaps though, it doesn’t look like I missed a whole lot. There were a couple of not-so-good performances last night, but on the whole, I think the girls blew the boys out of the water. When it gets like that, I think the 6 guys and 6 girls thing is a little unfair.
I’ve got the VCR set to catch tonight’s show because I need to be heading back to bed. (I should be sleeping now.) I’m not really sure who will go home. Noone is really standing out to me as a favorite thus far, but especially at this stage, America tends to be swayed by the judges opinions. I’ll be a little more forceful about who I’d like to go and stay as we go along. This early on, I just don’t feel like I’ve had the chance to really decide one way or another.
How about you? Any early favorites? Who do you think should/is going to go home?
