Paying the Bills

Posted by Jennifer on March 1st, 2007

It’s the first of the month which means there are a lot of bills that have come due. Add those on top of the ticket that I got last week, and it seems like it’s going to take financial consolidation software just to figure out how to pay it all. To top it all off, this is the first paycheck in a long time that I’ve had absolutely no overtime on my check at all. Ouch! My state tax return came in though, so I think I’ve managed to work it all out. It’s going to be a very barren two weeks until next payday though!

Grandfather clocks

It’s always interesting to me to think about which sights, smells, and sounds make you think of one certain person, or bring you back to one certain place. For example, whenever I hear grandfather clocks, it makes me think of my dad’s father’s house. I remember trying to fall asleep on the couch listening to the clock tick, and ring out the time. I’ve been plenty of other places that have grandfather clocks, but the sound of one ringing out the time always make me think of Grandpa’s.

You weren’t sleeping

Posted by Jennifer on March 1st, 2007

were you? Sometimes I think these cats have a death wish. I work third shift, and these days I just don’t sleep well during daylight hours. Today seemed to be an exception… I was sleeping well, I got up to go to the bathroom and went back to bed knowing I’d be able to go back to sleep. We’ve got stormy weather today, which is perfect sleeping weather. Then, Lucy was doing heaven knows what, but it was loud, and Pudge decided he needed attention NOW. He glued himself to my face, crawled all over me, and kept coming back no matter how many times I pushed him away. In case you don’t know, when a 15 lb cat is sitting on your chest and wants attention, you really don’t have much choice in the matter.
So they got me wide awake, and here I am out of bed when I could and should be sleeping. Waaah! I got lunch , and with any luck I’ll play on the internet for awhile and go back to bed.
