I miss Maury

One thing that I’m adjusting to about working during the day is the TV. Primetime TV is generally better than daytime TV, but there were shows I enjoyed watching. At 12pm, almost everyday, I watched Maury to see the results of his paternity testing. There’s nothing like trashy women testing sixteen different guys and coming up empty on a father for their child!

Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho

I did absolutely no blogging whatsoever yesterday. I am now two days into my new job! Yesterday I woke up at 2:15am (alarm goes off at 5:30), and I never was able to go back to sleep. I came home, accidentally fell asleep for about 30 minutes , and then got up to babysit my nephew while his parents went to drill. I did a little better job of sleeping last night, but still not a full night’s sleep. I’ve been working on third shift for just shy of two years, so moving to first shift is going to be a bit of an adjustment.
As far as the job itself… it’s going pretty well. I’ve got the basics down now, but when people want more specific things I’m still not sure what to do. It’s all things that are just going to come with time but I’m ready to stop feeling like a fish out of water. I’m going to be that way for a little while though because it’s just going to take me a while to know which people go with which departments. I had a couple of “Duh” moments, but that’s okay.

Playing Doctor

I never wanted to be a doctor when I “grew up” (I get squeamish around wounds), but when I was a kid, I did love to play with those play-doctor kits. You know, the ones with the black plastic bag and the plastic bandaids inside? My favorite parts were the little plastic arm-cuff bandages and the stethoscopes. Heck, I still like to play with stethoscopes when I can get my hands on them!
