Two Cats for Free

Friday, March 9th, 2007

Does anybody want two cats? I’m so freaking pissed off right now I can hardly see straight. I have a frog that I got in May of 2002 when I first came home from my freshman year of college. He’s a hardly little booger, as he’s still alive almost 5 years later despite some seriously neglect over the last couple of months. He has a home on top of my dresser. Stacked next to the dresser are a couple of totes that haven’t found a home yet. On top of those is a laundry basket full of notebooks, papers, yarn, etc.
I’m sitting at the computer and I hear a huge bang, followed by the sound of running water. The cats knocked him off the dresser, the entire tank upside down in my laundry basket. Water and small rocks EVERYWHERE. I’m still not done cleaning it up. The water ruined a lot of the yarn… well, not the water as much as the tiny little rocks and dirt from the rocks. The notebooks are probably ruined. Other various unreplaceable keepsakes, and papers. What I’m most upset about is that my favorite bible was in that laundry basket. It’s my slim, leather bound NLT bible that was given to me by the pastors of my church when I graduated highschool. I pulled it out and wiped it off, and I’m too afraid to go inspect the damage further. Even without the sentimental reasons, it’s the only bible I have here, and they are expensive. I can’t afford a new one. I have exactly one dollar to last me until payday and I need gas.
And poor Freddy! (the frog) All of the rocks landed on top of him. I rescued him pretty quickly, but I’m worried. He’s little and squishy and old, and that was a lot of heavy rocks. I’m honestly going to be surprised if he doesn’t kick it in the next day or two. And I don’t know where to put him so they won’t get him again. A
Well I need to go take care of the rest of the stuff because the beasts are currently locked out of the bathroom and that’s where the litterboxes are.

I’m all alone

I’m on my own now… *sniff* Well, I won’t officially be on my own until Monday morning, but Janette just came down and packed up her desk. She got all all her pictures down and put in her box, and it just looks so empty up here! It mentioned how sad it was, and she looked around, and then we both got all teary! She’s only moving down the hall, but we’re acting like she’s leaving the building entirely… On the one hand, it’s exciting because now I get to bring my own pictures and belongings and actually have a personalized work space, which I’ve never had. But it does look weird up here without all of her things. We’ve known all week that she was going to pack up and move this afternoon, but it was just harder than we thought it was going to be!
