Size Comparison

Monday, March 26th, 2007

Let’s play a little game shall we? Ha, kidding… I took a picture yesterday that I want to share with you, but in order for you to really appreciate it, you have to first see an older picture.

This is a picture of my cat, Pudge, on September 4, 2006. I remember thinking how cute he was curled up in the sink, and how big he was getting!

Cute huh? Now… you can really appreciate the picture I took last night. This is the same cat, same sink.

OMG! He’s huge!! When did my tiny baby get so BIG?!

Where’s your house?

Monday, March 26th, 2007

Alot of times when I’m “window shopping” on the internet, I find things for around the house, and I always think of my mom. Probably because I don’t have a house, or a yard, but that doesn’t stop me from looking at things for them! Earlier, I was looking at yard markers online, and there are some cute ones. Obviously I have no yard to mark, but my mom’s got one! I think her dogs would probably just dig something like that up. Her house is, I think, fairly clearly marked, so I guess she doesn’t need one anyways. I hate it when you can’t find something you’re looking for because they don’t have a clearly visible address– and you can’t even tell if you’re heading the right direction because no one else has their house marked either!

Self Portrait Sunday 3-25-07

Monday, March 26th, 2007

Well, I haven’t posted a picture for Self Portrait Sunday in quite awhile… I either forget, or I remember about 5 minutes before bedtime when I look like hell, and don’t want to take a picture of myself. Or I’m unhappy with some aspect of what I look like (usually my weight). This week I decided to take a picture and post it anyways because I am who I am right now, even if I do think my double chin has grown a little too much.

I know I’m posting this on Monday morning, but I did take this picture on Sunday afternoon. I got it off my camera last night, and cropped it, but then I realized how late it was getting and that I needed to get to bed. So you get my picture this morning :)

If you’d like to participate in Self Portrait Sunday, just snap a picture of yourself, post it to your blog, and head over to DigiCass to share with the rest of us!

Naughty Puppies

Sunday, March 25th, 2007

I’ve posted several times about the naughty things my kitties do, but I really feel bad for my mom. She’s got one of those sectional sofas and three dogs. At first glance, you might not understand what those two facts have to do with each other. Well… during the time that her husband was in the hospital, her three dogs destroyed not one, but two, of the cushions that go on the back of her couch. I’m not talking about accent cushions, either– these cushions provide the back you lean against on the couch! The worst part is that they custom ordered the couch, so they can’t exactly just call up and get new cushions. They’ll have to custom order those as well. Her husband just spent about two months in the hospital, I’m sure they can afford that! Needless to say, she called me that night and offered me three dogs.

Orange Creme Margaritas

Saturday, March 24th, 2007

The title says it all… that’s what sums up my day yesterday. Orange creme margaritas. I worked until four, and while people were slightly less crabby than they were on Thursday, it was still no picnic. I went home and hung out for a couple of hours until Sarah got off work, and then we headed out for the evening. The plan was to hit Hacienda for some dinner, and then to the movie theater to see Premonition. Well, she ended up having to drop off a payment at Macy’s, so by the time we got done with that, it was either the dinner, or the movie, and we both picked dinner! We split a liter of very yummy orange creme margaritas, and then came back to my apartment. Since the original plan was to go to the movies, we put one on here… the Will Ferrell movie Stranger Than Fiction. About halfway through the movie though, the margaritas and the early morning hit me, so we called it a night and I went to bed. All in all, I’d have to say it was a pretty decent end to a fairly lousy work week.

Depressing News

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

Now that I’m up at *whispers painfully* 5:30 a.m. every morning, I have the opportunity to watch a little bit of the morning news before I leave for work. I mainly turn it on for the forecast, but I catch some of the local news in the process. When I get to work, and get settled at my desk, I’ve been logging onto CNN.com to read the news. Over and over again I find myself shaking my head at the world we find ourselves living in these days. Rape, murder, beating and mugging the elderly. If I didn’t want to keep up on current events, it would almost be enough to make me stop reading the news altogether. It’s depressing!

Cars for Kids

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

How many of us always intend to do things for underprivileged kids, or any charity work for that matter? The key words there, of course, being intend to. I don’t have a lot, and I certainly don’t much extra these days, but my heart can’t help but break for others who are in need. That’s why I love programs that are set up to benefit others by me simply doing things I would already be doing.

One of the places I found doing just such a thing is Autocity101.com, and what they have is Used Cars For Sale. They are a free car classifieds website, but their site is not the same as every other car classified site available on the internet. What’s the difference? While other sites are generally in it for a profit, AutoCity101 is looking to raise money to build an orphanage network that will begin in Mexico. They eventually hope to go worldwide. That’s where you come in!

If you’re looking for a new used car to purchase, or if you know someone else who is in the market, check out the AutoCity101.com website. You can find the car you’re looking for, and help children at the same time.

Thursdays are Grumpy

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

Man, I don’t know what it is about today, but it seems like everyone who walks through my door this morning needs energy pills. Or anti-depressants. The people who are calling in are not any better. Maybe it’s just because it’s almost the end of the week… maybe it’s because we’re having some unpleasant weather… I don’t really know, but patience does not come easily to me and I’m getting really tired of being snapped at today. I’m actually in a surprisingly good mood today, despite the people and the weather, but it’s not going to stay that way for long if people keep chewing me out for things that have nothing to do with me, or just because they’re having a bad day. I got all my nephew pictures hung up above my computer today, so when people are being nasty, I’ll just look at their innocent, smiling faces.

Silver Jewelry Club

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

You may have already noticed the new button that arrived on my sidebar a couple of days ago, but I thought I’d explain it. It’s for the Silver Jewelry Club, which I actually heard of from Kat. What they are offering is free sterling silver jewelry, and most of it is actually really pretty. They have rings, earrings, and pendants with all kinds of gemstones- garnet, amethyst, peridot and smoky quartz just to name a few. All you have to pay is $5.99 for the shipping. The pendants don’t come with a chain, but for an additional $4, you can get one from them as well. So far I’ve gotten a $120 worth of jewelry for just under $20. You can’t beat that!

When you go, there will be four current offers available. When those four pieces “expire”, you’ll have new pieces to choose from. My only complaint is that the rings are always available in the one size, and they’re usually for people with teeny fingers. The only rings I’ve seen in my size were still pretty, but they were white cubic zirconia, and when I had one before people kept joking that I was trying to pretend I was engaged. I can wait for the real thing, but thanks for asking.

I’m getting my first order in the mail in a couple of days, and I’ll be sure to let you guys know how it is! I’m still keeping my eyes peeled to the website. I saw a pendant go by a couple of days ago, and I’m hoping it comes back. I missed it because I was at work, and I got busy, and by the time I got the chance to get back to it, my PayPal login had expired. *sniff*

Frustrating Phones

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

There were several moments today that I wished I had a set of golf clubs to throw around dramatically in my frustration. Okay, golf clubs would be a bit excessive, but I’m sure you understand the feeling I’m going for here. Between not-so-bright people calling in, and me being inept with the system today, the phone was just not good!
I had several of those phone calls where you just talk in circles with the people on the phone because they don’t understand what you’re saying, or they just plain aren’t listening. I’m doing a pretty good job of being patient, but there comes a point at which you just can’t help but let some of that exasperation show through in your voice.
And then I did something really dumb… you’ll probably get a kick out of this. Our phone system is on the computer. You answer with the space bar or enter key, and to transfer, you just have to hit one of the speed dial buttons or dial the extension and off it goes. There’s no check of any kind in place, the call is just gone. Well… someone called in, and needed me to page an employee for them. So I clicked park to put them on hold, and then clicked on the speed dial button for the paging system. Only to discover that the system did NOT park the call when I tried to put them on hold, so I essentially transferred them onto the paging system, and there’s NOTHING I can do to retrieve the call at that point! The intercom is shut off in the lobby where my desk is, so I have no idea how long they were broadcast through the entire facility before they hung up. It was one of those things where you are going, “Oh no! This is really bad!” but you can’t help but laugh.
