Self Portrait Sunday 4-29-07

April 29, 2007 on 9:21 pm | In Footprints, Self Portrait Sunday | 4 Comments

I’m posting really quickly because I should have been in bed almost an hour ago, but I just got home and I wanted to get my Self Portrait posted ON SUNDAY! This is me with my nephew Killian. My mom was babysitting today, and she invited me over for dinner. I got to rock him to sleep twice, and this is the second time. I was just so content there rocking him while he slept. My mom asked if I wanted her to set up some place to lay him down. Like I’d want to stop holding a sleeping baby. Silly woman!

Play along with us– take a picture of yourself every week, post it to your blog. And don’t forget to visit DigiCass and let us know so we can come visit!

Spoiling Nephews

April 28, 2007 on 5:53 pm | In Shopping | No Comments

I’m working as hard as I can to spoil my nephews. Babies are born to be loved, and to be spoiled. I am certainly doing my part in making sure that happens for my nephews. I buy them clothes, pacifiers, books, you name it. I’m not going to need to buy them first communion gifts or anything like that so I figure, why not buy them the things I see now? I say this because I bought Aiden a little outfit last night, and I bought two onesies today- one for Aiden and one for Killian. One says “I can’t talk yet, but I have an attitude!” and the other one says, “If you think I’m handsome, you should see my daddy.” They’re cute, and they were only $3!

Friday Fun

April 28, 2007 on 5:40 pm | In Footprints | 1 Comment

I had a pretty good Friday night. Sarah, Erica and I got together and ended up going out to Hacienda for dinner. They were really busy, so we were there for a really long time, but we had a great time anyways! Good food, and good friends! After we finished with dinner, we ended up going to Walmart to do a little bit of shopping. I bought shampoo and new socks. Exciting, I know!! I handed the one package of socks to Aiden to hold, and he just played with those socks and chewed on them. We tried taking them away, and he got mad, so I just had to warn the cashier that the package was a little slobbery! She looked pretty disturbed, it was funny.
It took us a long time to get home because we were out on the other side of town, and they were doing the parade of lights in memory of the police officer who was shot and killed. I knew they did something like this when officers died, but I’ve never seen it before. It was really just painfully beautiful to see flashing lights as far as you could see in either direction.
We made it back to Erica’s though, and hung out for a couple of hours. Just goofing off, and looking up people on MySpace– to show each other people we knew, find people from high school, and see what they look like now. It started with Erica looking for the profile of the girl that got voted out in our version of “Lunch Table Survivor” back in high school to show Sarah. Long story there– needless to say, we were typical self-absorbed highschoolers.

Unplugging the phone

April 27, 2007 on 2:32 pm | In Working Woman | 2 Comments

I just want to unplug the phone and go into hiding! Unfortunately, as answering the phone is the bulk of my job, that’s a no can do. Oh but how I’d like to though. Apparently there was some snafu in payroll, so that’s been a lot of phone calls. The same few people have called the same few people a million and one times. Truck drivers who need directions, but can’t take simple instructions. Makes me want to unplug the phone, head for the outer banks, and not come back until the dust has settled. But I feel like that by the end of the week every week. TGIF!

No dinner table

April 26, 2007 on 8:18 pm | In Shopping | 1 Comment

It seems the list of things that I want to buy when I get the money grows longer faster than I can come up with the funds to do so. The latest addition to the list is a set of folding tables and chairs. Actually, I’ve been wanting them since just before Christmas. I usually eat dinner at my computer desk because it’s either that, or the recliner, and it’s easier to keep the cats out of my plate at the desk!! I don’t have room for a table to be set up permanently, but it would be nice to have something for the rare occasions that I have people over for dinner. Or to be able to play cards when my mom’s over. That sort of thing. I could find a place to store a card table when it’s not in use!

Need more time

April 26, 2007 on 8:06 pm | In Uncategorized | 1 Comment

There is not enough time in the day… sometimes I wonder if turning back the hands on my grandfather clock will help. Unfortunately, that would probably only escalate my problem. There’s so much I need to get done, especially around the apartment, and it’s just not happening. Take tonight, for example. I got home, changed, checked my email and then headed out for most of the evening. When it came to deciding between cleaning and sorting through boxes at home, and spending time with a friend, I chose a friend. Unfortunately, that just puts me one more day behind on the mess.

Rain, Rain, Go Away

April 26, 2007 on 7:54 pm | In Uncategorized | No Comments

That wasn’t driving I was doing a few minutes ago, it was boating. Yup, it is just that soggy around here. I’m tired of the rain!! It’s supposed to rain tomorrow too, though. *sigh* There were scary storms around the area this afternoon. My friend’s husband drove through an intersection not more than five minutes after a tornado touched down AT that intersection! We heard it on the news, and then couldn’t get him on the phone, when we knew he was driving along that stretch of road. It was scary!

Smelling Chemicals

April 26, 2007 on 7:08 am | In Uncategorized | No Comments

I’ve got the new hair blues! Or something like that lol What I need is some kind of painkiller for the headache I’ve got, probably from smelling the chemicals on my head! I hope it doesn’t smell as strong to everyone else as it does to me!
I think I’m definitely going to like it once it calms down a bit, and I can wash it. Even if I start to hate it though, it was worth it just for the very confused look on my boss’ face when he walked in this morning.

New Hair

April 25, 2007 on 7:20 pm | In Footprints | 8 Comments

I went tonight and got my hair done. I decided to get a perm!! Against my better judgement, I’m going to share before and after pictures with you!

BEFORE:

AFTER:

It doesn’t look that good right now because first day perms never do… it’s got that poodle look to it… not to mention that it has no product in it, and dried while I was out to dinner with my mom. I’ll share another picture after it relaxes a little… perms always look better after you can wash them! Maybe by Self Portrait Sunday.

Still Watching

April 25, 2007 on 1:07 pm | In American Idol, Television | 1 Comment

I haven’t posted about American Idol lately, but I’m still watching. I actually can’t comment very much right now either because I haven’t watched last night’s show yet. I saw the first few minutes, and then set the VCR and went to bed early. Don’t worry, you haven’t missed much from me… if I had been writing every other week it would have all looked something like that “SANJAYA MUST GO HOME! NOW!” But he’s finally been voted off, and all is right in the world! With such a widespread “Vote for Sanjaya” movement, a lot of people were starting to get nervous that he’d make it to the end. That would have ended up with a lot of people boycotting the show, I think. My current favorites are Jordin, Lakisha, and Melinda. I say that, of course, with the whole season in mind because I haven’t seen the most recent episode. Who do you think will be going home tonight?
