My Blogger is Broken

May 29, 2007 on 2:33 pm | In Uncategorized | 4 Comments

I’ve been in a blogging funk lately… it’s not that I don’t have anything to share with you guys– it’s more like all the thoughts in my head are just kind of stuck there. For example, I don’t think I ever wrote about the fact that I had jury duty on Thursday, or that I went to the drawing for the ultimate racing weekend I wrote about last week. Everytime I sit down to write about these things, I find I have nothing to say. Rather annoying when you call yourself a blogger… I think my blogger is broken.

Right now, I’m just counting down the time until I can go home. The last couple of hours have been dragging. There’s no one posting online, and my book just isn’t keeping my interest. I’m going straight to the grocery store from here, and then it’s home. My project for the evening is to locate the smell in my apartment. Or at least eradicate the popular potential causes– I’ll be scrubbing down the kitchen, and the bathroom, including the trash and the litterboxes. If that doesn’t take care of whatever this is, I’ll be calling maintenance because honestly, I don’t know where else it could be coming from! I already don’t think it’s any of those things, but I guess we’ll see.

Happy Sunday!! Have you all been having a good holiday weekend? I spent a good part of the day on Saturday doing the massive amounts of laundry I’ve been avoiding for far too long. Today I bummed around the apartment for awhile, and then Sarah came over and we spent the afternoon and evening watching movies and just catching up. She’s been sick, so I haven’t gotten to see her in a long time.

I took this picture sometime during the course of the evening while we were hanging out. Pudge has been attached to my hip all day, so you see him there behind me. To play along, post a picture of yourself every Sunday. Then visit DigiCass and let us all know so we can come see you.

Chicken Enchiladas

May 25, 2007 on 8:47 am | In Learning to Cook | No Comments

It’s been probably about a week since I was looking for enchilada recipes online, and then got all the ingredients. I’m finally going to get around to making those enchiladas tonight. Well, maybe I am… I forgot to take the chicken out of the freezer so I’ll be making them if I feel like waiting that long.
I suppose I could abandon the chicken enchiladas I was planning on making, and make the ones in the recipe I linked above. They look really good and would probably be much faster to make. Of course, I don’t have all the ingredients for that enchilada casserole, so that would require a trip to the grocery store before I could make them. Maybe I’ll order pizza… ;)

Poor Chair

May 25, 2007 on 8:18 am | In Uncategorized | No Comments

Speaking of things falling apart around my apartment, I think I’m going to need new office furniture soon. My poor computer chair is about to die. It’s not anything fancy, but it is functional, or was. Not to mention, free. But now if I lean back in the chair, it pops and creaks ominously. It still works for now, but I know it’s only a matter of time before I lean back and find myself on the floor. I hope it holds out for awhile yet though– I can’t afford to replace it!

Not Prepared for an Emergency

May 25, 2007 on 8:07 am | In Uncategorized | No Comments

When we had the tornado producing storms come through here a little while back, I realized that I don’t have anywhere to go in the event of a tornado, or other severe weather, being on the second floor of an apartment building. One thing I also realized is that I don’t have much by way of Emergency Supplies. I have a few candles, no bottled water, and very little by way of canned goods. Most of the food I have is either frozen, or boxed goods that require preparation. In the event of a real emergency, I’d find myself in a bad situation pretty quickly. The same goes for my car… I’ve never actually carried the blankets, water, etc that I’m supposed to in the winter months. Probably not the most brilliant idea ever.

Cell Phone Shopping

May 25, 2007 on 7:58 am | In Shopping | No Comments

I’ve been doing some window shopping for cell phones lately… my current cell phone contract comes up in August, and after that point I’ll be on my own with the bill, so I’ve been trying to get an idea of what the phone and the plans are going to cost me in the long run. I’m not willing to give up my cell phone, so I was looking to see if I should stick with my current provider, or switch to another carrier. In looking, I was looking at phone models, and on at least one I saw that they were planning on making the phone (or the service, I don’t remember) video conferencing capable in the future. How awesome would that be? To basically have a video phone on your cell?? I think it’s a long time coming, but definitely an interesting technology!

White Noise

May 25, 2007 on 7:40 am | In Uncategorized | 1 Comment

I am not a good sleeper. I never have been one to go to sleep easily… where many people can fall asleep as soon as their head hits the pillow, I’m lucky to fall asleep in a half an hour. I usually sleep with a sleep mask on because the dark just isn’t dark enough, and I always have a fan or some other kind of white noise going. I have one of those sound machines that Erica bought me for Christmas a couple years ago. I need to find the power cord to that and start using it… then I’d have my white noise and not have to wake up freezing in the morning!

Falling Apart

May 24, 2007 on 7:43 pm | In Uncategorized | No Comments

I wish I could get the maintenance people around here to, oh, I don’t know, actually fix things. I feel like my apartment is falling down around my ears. Okay, being a little dramatic, yes, but there are things that need done. The vertical blinds in the living room, only half the slats turn. The window blinds in the bedroom are half chewed up from the previous tenants cat! The bathtub barely drains, and the air conditioner works when it wants to. Yikes. The smell is my problem because I haven’t figured out what’s causing it yet! Oops. But everything else, gah. The last time I reported something, they didn’t bother to come fix it for a MONTH, aka two days before rent was due again. So annoying.

Radar Detectors

May 24, 2007 on 7:37 pm | In Uncategorized | No Comments

I used to have one of those cheapy model radar detectors in my car, probably about two years ago now. I had it for awhile, but I don’t anymore. Someone broke into my car and stole it. I hate to break it to them, but it was the cheapest model you can get, so they didn’t really gain a whole lot. I never did bother to replace it because, well, I don’t want to get my car broken into again! And I managed to get a speeding ticket while it was installed in my car anyways. Fat lot of good that did me! LOL

Empty Head

May 23, 2007 on 10:29 am | In Uncategorized | 1 Comment

I didn’t blog at all yesterday because I felt like I didn’t have a single thought in my head. I opened both of my blogs more than once, but closed them again after staring at a blank screen. I’m not feeling a whole lot more talkative today so far, but I thought I would make the attempt anyways. I went last night to sit at Erica’s… I wanted to sit outside and enjoy the weather, so I took dinner over there, and then stayed on her porch while she went to drill, and then we hung out after that.
Today though, I’m soooo tired. I have been all week actually. I don’t really know why, I just feel like I have NO energy at all. I really think I have allergies, and it is not a good season for those this year. I don’t know if that’s what my problem is, I just know I haven’t wanted to do anything other than sleep, and I haven’t even been able to do that. I went to bed late last night and was wide awake a couple of times during the night. Right now I’m just waiting for my relief to come so I can go to lunch (and the bathroom… eek….). I hope I’m going to feel less icky after I get something to eat. The Aleve sure didn’t do anything.
