Summer TV Schedule

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

What are you guys watching on TV this summer? There’s not a whole lot on, but I have managed to find a few things to watch that isn’t reruns…

Big Medicine, on TLC
Real Estate Pros (formerly the Real Deal) on TLC
Criss Angel’s Mindfreak on A&E
Rescue Me on FX
and I’m looking forward to Property Ladder on TLC.

Can you tell I like the house flipping shows? And TLC? I watch them a lot during the evenings… they are all reruns, but I haven’t seen quite a few of them yet. If I have, I just start flipping channels and looking for something else. The funny thing about all those shows I listed is that except for Real Estate Pros, which is on Saturday nights, I tape all of the rest of them because they are either after my bedtime, or I don’t want to stay up late enough to catch the end of them! Is that sad?

Bogus Sales Calls

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

In answering the phones all day long, we get a lot of sales calls. We also get a lot of bogus sales/service calls. My personal favorite is “Hi this is Sarah with customer service on the copier. We just need someone to get the model number off the front of the machine.” And then they send you a case of toner cartridges and charge you out the behind for them. Hahaha, if you *were* customer service on the copier, you’d probably tell me what company you were with, and oh yeah, you’d be standing in front of me because our copiers/fax machines/etc are handled in-house by Xerox. And trust me, they bring their own toner with them.
Now, if they were calling with an offer on Dell inkjet cartridges, I might be slightly more interested (though I’d prefer to go through someone reputable), as I have a Dell printer at home. Actually pretty much all of the computers here are Dells, but my printer here is HP, and the copier/fax machine is Xerox. Figure that one out! LOL

Poor Trees

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

The landscaping company is here today, and they are trimming the bushes and getting all the dead stuff out, mowing and all that good stuff. But they hacked up my poor trees! My desk faces a window, and there are two trees side by side right outside. They’d finally recovered from the late snow and frost we had this year, and were full and beautiful. The landscaping company just got done thinning them out, and they look so sad. They stripped off most of the leaves on the insides and thinned out the edges. Granted, now I can see the gate on the other side of them, and I couldn’t before, but that’s not the point. What do they think I am, a security guard? Visibility isn’t important for security, is it?

Vacation, please?

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

Several of my friends are either off on vacation or preparing to head out, so I know I’m not the only one who is in need of a good leisuretime promotion. Unfortunately, I can’t really take a vacation right now. I can’t afford it, and I’m saving my vacation time for a trip to Vegas in November. But that’s okay… leisure time doesn’t have to mean a vacation. I’ll take a day at the beach. Or even a nice and distracting hobby.
I do have a mini-break coming up… in just a couple of weeks, my friend Bethany from college is getting married. Since the area we went to school is almost 3 hours away, I’ve decided to spend that weekend in a hotel… with a pool and a hot tub. Heck yeah! My mom is going to come down with me, and I’m really looking forward to it! Just don’t remind me that I have nothing to wear to a wedding.

Drama, Drama, Drama

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

I haven’t really been writing over here much this week… that’s due mainly to my not having much to say besides whining. There’s been lots of drama at work lately, and since it’s about things I can’t change, and things I can’t really write about in public anyways, I kept my whining “behind closed doors,” so to speak. Though I feel sorry to my poor friends who have had to put up with my whining and complaining this week. Sorry, but they’ve just given me lots of things to complain about! When my boss and I were pow-wowing in his office I was getting upset (which of course freaks him out), and I said that I just felt like I was being attacked, and he said “Imagine how it is for me!” Which is true… so I’m trying to take deep breaths and not worry too much about things that are out of my control. Trying being the operative word.

Safe Landing

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

I found the video of the space shuttle landing over at my friend Julie’s, Atlantis Returns Safely to Earth… she watched the landing live, but I couldn’t. I definitely understand what she means when she says that things like that make her feel proud to be an American. Mostly, though, things like that just make me sooo grateful that it happened safely. With the past tragedies, and the huge risk involved, you just breathe easier when they are safely on the ground. You can see the video for yourself below!

Weekend for my Weekend

Monday, June 25th, 2007

I need a weekend to recover from my weekend! Not that it was anything particularly stressful, I just was not at home… hardly at all! I spent Friday and Saturday with Erica, and we ran all over town. And all over town all over again! Sunday it was time to pack up all my laundry to take over to my mom’s house. I got so tired of doing the laundry that I actually left the last load over there and I have to go pick it up tonight. I also picked up Killian, visited my grandmother in the nursing home, and took Killian back home. Phew. Nothing horribly strenuous, and yet, I’m exhausted today! I think it was because I had no plans as of 4pm Friday so I was anticipating a long weekend of just relaxing and hanging out at home… and I ended up only being there to sleep!

Normally on Sundays, I put off taking my self portrait until much much later in the day… usually after I’ve taken a shower (or until I’ve decided not to take one lol). Today I thought I’d just go ahead and get it out of the way! This is me, not long after I got out of bed… with my hair in the scary ponytail I threw it in to run down and get my Sunday paper, and of course, still with sleep lines on my face. Enjoy.

Visit DigiCass to see the rest of the Self Portraits for this week, and to play along!

Ready for Halloween

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

I’m going to be ready for Halloween this year! Halloween just so happens to be one of my favorite holidays (Christmas is THE favorite, of course). I like to dress up, but last year for example, I didn’t plan far enough ahead. The entirety of my costume was one of those headband halo things. I probably won’t have a party to go to this year either, but I’ll probably be passing out candy. And I’ll be dressed up. I’m looking at Halloween-store.com for my costume now.
I would totally appease my sister-in-law by dressing up as someone from Harry Potter, but I lack the creativity to make one myself, and all of the Harry Potter costumes seem to be for kids. Oh well! They do have a decent selection of Adult Costumes, so I guess I’ll look over there. If all else fails, I have the dress I wore for the costume ball at the Lord of the Rings convention a few years ago.

Music Problem Solved

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

I have solved my music problem at work, and I don’t even have to buy a new radio! Basically all day yesterday I listened to my Phantom of the Opera soundtrack because that’s what I had here. Now, I love the music from Phantom, but there are only so many times you can listen to it back to back before the silence would be a better option!

Today I brought my iPod, and a book of CDs. The plan was to get the music off the iPod if I could, but the CDs were here as backup because I couldn’t handle another day of Phantom all day long. I listened to a couple of CDs and then dug out my iPod… I got all the music transferred onto my computer. Woohoo! I think that since I have well over 24 hours worth of music to go through, I should be set for awhile, don’t you??

I am going to put iTunes on this computer though– the only media player it has right now is Windows Media Player, and I just don’t like it…
