This is as good as it gets today, kids. I woke up with a raging headache this morning, but felt well enough this afternoon. I was out and about my mom, grandma and Killian. Now I have a fever around 101, and I generally feel pretty wretched. I have a long shift at work tomorrow (like 16 hours long), so I really can’t afford to be sick. I’ve taken Tylenol PM and will be attempting to hit the sack as soon as I press “Publish”. Hope you’re all feeling (and looking) better than I am!

Edit to add: Oops, in my sickly stupor, I forgot to link you to DigiCass and tell you to go check out the rest of the pictures.

And I’m Done

Saturday, July 21st, 2007

I’ve just finished reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows… all 759 pages. Wow…. don’t worry– if you haven’t read it yet, I’m not going to give anything away!! I’m kind of sad it’s over… I was so eager to read the end of the story, but so dreading “the end” at the same time! Let me know when you’ve finished reading… I’ll be out exploring the rest of the internet, now that it’s safe to do so…

Reading Harry Potter. Do Not Disturb.

Saturday, July 21st, 2007

Something tells me the internet is going to be rather quiet today, and we’ll see plenty of messages like the one above. Many people have been eagerly reading since midnight, and alot of people are already feverishly stalking their mailman. I am neither one of those. This slacker of a Harry Potter fan didn’t preorder a book OR go stand in a crazy line at midnight. No, I got a good night’s sleep, and got up this morning to go pick up a copy. (I did get up at butt-crack of dawn to head out though, so that’s got to count for something!) I got to pick through the stack of them to find one the useless employees didn’t muck up, and I didn’t have to stand in line. I now have a copy in my grubby little hands, and will likely only stop reading long enough to take potty breaks and switch my laundry.

Be a Better Blogger with Marcus

Friday, July 20th, 2007

My friend Marcus is doing a new series at his blog, 101 Steps to Better Blogging. I’m playing along with him, and seeing as he’s on step two now, I’m a little behind the times. Basically he’s following Lifehack’s 101 Steps to Becoming a Better Blogger article, and creating it into a series, so we can all follow along.
To begin, we needed to get the current stats for our blog. Here are the stats for Footprints on the Moon, from popuri.us, as of this afternoon.

Step one was to have a WordPress blog, and to add all the pinging sites. I have a couple already, but as soon as I post this, I’m going to go do the rest. Step two was running your feed through Feedburner. As you can see by the little button in my sidebar, I did this today. Since it is brand new, my button says 0, and that’s sad… :(

I’m going to keep playing along with Marcus though, so I’ll keep you posted here on the progress, and how it affects my stats!

Baby Fishies

Friday, July 20th, 2007

I am trying to figure out how to take care of baby fishies… my dad’s had pregnant fish in the past, so I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before he ends up with another one. We knew that we’d have to rescue the babies after they were born so they wouldn’t get eaten, but we didn’t have one of those transfer tanks for that express purpose, so we thought we’d just take the mama fish out and put her in a smaller tank by herself until the babies were born. Yeah… the mama fish died :( Pretty quickly, too… still trying to figure out what happened there. So I want to know what to do next time because I don’t want to continue being the baby fish killer.

Where’s the Moolah?

Friday, July 20th, 2007

Today is payday, and after spending a few minutes with my bank account and my check book, I’m left wondering “Where the heck is all the money?!” I need some fixed asset accounting software or something to track it! I actually know where the money went, but that’s not the point. The point is that the money I *do* have is not going far enough… Last weekend I spent ALOT of money, most (not all) of it non-optional. There were clothes for work, which were necessary. There were wedding related expenses that I’m counting in the non-optional category because I wasn’t missing that for the world. There were groceries… cause the food situation was at a point where the night before grocery shopping my dinner was a lunchable, a handful of peanuts and some twizzlers. Yeah, food money was necessary. lol

The whole point of this?? Why the heck does *living* cost so much money?

Tiny Doorways

Friday, July 20th, 2007

You know, I know we’re fatter these days than ever before, but still… my friend Erica recently moved into a different house, and her new house has the tiniest hallway I’ve ever seen! To get from the living room to her bedroom, you have to pass through this tiny little hallway, and no joke, with me standing there with my arms at my sides, my arms touch the walls on both sides. Maybe I’m missing something, but I don’t think I should feel like I need Hoodia to fit through a doorway! I fit just fine, but it makes me feel a touch claustrophobic. What I’m still trying to figure out is how they got their furniture into the room.

Do you Bento?

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

I haven’t been posting here much the last several days, and that’s because I have a strange new obsession. And it’s called Bento. It all started with Loretta making a post about Bentos on Just Not Martha. I followed her link over to Bento Yum just to try and figure out what the heck a Bento was, and a new obsession was born. Real basically, Bento-ing is a way of packing a healthy, portion controlled lunch in appealing and creative ways. I don’t have a bento set (but I find myself really, really wanting one… if they stock a Keroppi one, I’ll be sold!), and I’ve never made one, but I can’t quit looking at them! My eyes have been opened, and people are posting pictures of their bentos all over the place– their own sites, LiveJournal, Flickr.

I have a bad habit of researching things, hobbies, whatever, and getting all excited about them and never following through. I’m hoping Bento isn’t one of them though… I’m not sure what’s got me so entranced with it, but I really like the idea. The fact that I have the desire to eat healthy but never manage to follow through is also a huge draw I think. Have you (besides Retta ;) ) ever heard of bentos? Would you consider packing that kind of lunch(/breakfast/dinner)?

Boss’ Birthday Present

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

It just occurred to me that I never posted about the birthday present for my boss. I took pictures and everything!! Unfortunately, you still don’t get those as they are on my computer at home, and not uploaded on the internet anywhere (though I would’ve SWORN they were before I went looking for them!) Gary only likes orange candy, and he expresses his displeasure every time I let a piece of orange candy slip through to the general candy bowl. So I got the idea in my head to get him a large variety of orange candy– pretty much anything I could get my hands on. I will admit that about halfway through the project, I started to wish I’d gone for golf equipment instead, but in the end I came up with a pretty large bowl filled with more candy than he can eat in a year.
I’ll see what I can remember… in the bowl was:

A chocolate orange
Mini chocolate oranges
Orange slices
Citrus Mint Orbit gum
Orange TicTacs
Orange Starburst
Orange Now n Laters
Orangeheads
Orange/Chocolate Pastilles (from the world foods aisle)
Orange Lifesavers
Orange Mint Lifesavers
Orange Cremesavers

It seems to me that there was something else in there, but I can’t think of anything else. I’ll add a picture here when I get home if I think of it!

Just so you can have some idea of what size the bowl is.

Self Portrait Sunday 7-15-07

Monday, July 16th, 2007

Okay, I know it is Monday, but since the picture is neither a Self Portrait nor was it taken on Sunday, I figured it didn’t matter that much!! I’m on the far left, and then there is Stefanie, Amanda, Andrea, and Brooke. The bride, of course, is Bethany! These are some of my lovely, lovely friends from college, most of whom I hadn’t seen in the two years since graduation! We all had such a a good time and it was so great to see all the girls. I sincerely hope that it isn’t another two years before we get together again. It’s so hard to stay in touch… I guess that’s what happens when you go to a school that isn’t close to home. I really need to set up a time to see Bethany when she gets settled because man, I miss that girl! Naturally, I didn’t get a whole lot of time to talk to her!

Anyways, you know the drill by now… visit Digicass to play along… you can see the rest of this week’s pictures here.
