Jellystone
August 31, 2007 on 2:58 pm | In Footprints | No CommentsIf you need me this weekend, I won’t be around. As soon as I’m off work (in about 5 minutes), I’m headed home to finish getting my crap together, and then I’m headed out of town to the closest Jellystone park for the weekend. I’m looking forward to sitting around the campfire and playing games, and just generally having a relaxing weekend. Though my mom made it down there already, as she only worked a half day, and she said our campsite is RIGHT on the highway. So I’m disappointed that we’ll be listening to traffic all weekend long. I told her to ask about changing sites because they are probably full, but it can’t hurt to at least ASK, and they hadn’t gotten set up yet. I haven’t heard back from her yet though, so I’m assuming they said no.
Either way, my goal is to be packed up, have the kitties ready to survive the weekend alone, and be on the road by 5. Not the ideal time to be traveling on the highway, but oh well! Unless the campground has magically sprouted a wireless connection since last year, you won’t see me until Monday night, or Tuesday morning! Have a good holiday weekend!
Vegas, Baby!
August 31, 2007 on 12:39 pm | In Footprints | 1 CommentI’m all official on the trip to Vegas now, and I’m sooo excited. I have put in the request for the days off work. I’ve purchased airfare, and the most recent acquisition has been the reservation for accommodations. I spent, literally, for-freakin-ever going through all of the hotels I could find on the Strip and inputting our travel dates, and coming up with the amount that it would cost us. After inputting all of this into a spreadsheet, so we could SEE it all in one place, we crunched some numbers. We looked at everything from the Luxor, the MGM Grand to Circus Circus and the Sahara hotel. In the end, we settled on the Imperial Palace. Excellent deal, as the price per night was under $200. So if any of the rest of y’all are going to Vegas in November, choose an Imperial Palace Tower Room! So far we’ve got two rooms and 8 posties staying there, but we’re hoping to have one big hotel party… the more, the merrier!
New Uniform
August 31, 2007 on 12:33 pm | In Footprints, Working Woman | No CommentsI’ll have to get a picture for you because I’ve been slacking on that, but I now have new uniforms for work. I had been hoping that the business casual attire would hold out indefinitely, but it was not meant to be. I am now wearing a white shirt, black pants, black blazer and a cross-over tie. It’s classy, let me tell you. I feel so overdressed though… like I should be offering a business opportunity to everyone I meet. Or pointing out the exits because the tie makes me feel like a flight attendant. Maybe I should dig out my black skirt, and wear that with some panty hose and black pumps. Then I’d *really* look like a flight attendant! If I think about it when I get home, I’ll snap a picture. Or one day next week. I’m just waiting for everyone to get used to the new look so I can quit feeling self-conscious and on display.
Moving to Florida
August 31, 2007 on 12:15 pm | In Internet | No CommentsOkay, I’m not really moving to Florida. But the overly warm weather has been cooling down here, and I know it’s only a matter of time before the really cold weather hits and I start complaining about that instead. When December hits, I’ll start threatening to look into some Miami real estate, but I won’t really do it. I’m not a big fan of extreme temperatures. My favorite time of the year is fall, when the skies are clear and blue, and the temperature is just perfectly comfortable, no insane humidity. We only got one or two really good Indian Summer days last year, and it was sooo disappointing. It seemed like we went from Summer straight to Winter, and then right back into Summer again. I want my four seasons!
Disturbing Dreams
August 30, 2007 on 7:53 pm | In Footprints | No CommentsI’ve been having a lot of disturbing dreams lately… and I don’t necessarily mean gross or scary, just dreams that leave me with an unsettled feeling. Everything from weddings, and relationships to work and bugs, and all sorts of things in between. It’s not so much a big deal that I’m having odd dreams… I think everyone’s dreams are odd. It’s the fact that I’ve remembered so many dreams recently. I don’t usually remember my dreams… usually only if I wake up in the middle of them, and not always then! So the fact that I’m remembering so many now means I’m not sleeping as well as I should be!!
No More Lohan
August 29, 2007 on 8:52 am | In In the News | 1 CommentWhy are Lindsay Lohan and her drug rehab escapades all over my internet? It’s bad enough that stories about her life are everywhere, and I couldn’t care less about where she was partying last night. But it’s gotten to a really bad point when you can’t read an article about ANYthing in the entertainment industry without them devoting a whole paragraph to omgLindsay! I was reading articles online this morning, and I came across no less than three separate ones that felt the need to mention Lindsay Lohan despite having nothing to do with her at all. Make. It. Stop.
Trash
August 29, 2007 on 8:39 am | In Around the House | No CommentsAs I believe I’ve mentioned before, once or twice
, I’m in the middle of a major excavation in my apartment. There are lots of things that I plan on getting rid of. Some of it will go in the garage sale, some of it will go to Goodwill, and some of it goes straight in the trash. I’m scared to throw it away though! Why? Dumpster divers! Don’t you dare throw away those broken bar stools, someone might want to fix them and keep them! Never mind the fact that they don’t have a bar to put them at. And furniture of any kind, no matter how broken? Forget about it. Because I know enough people who pull things out of dumpsters like that, it makes me wary of throwing many things away. I have a HUGE bag of papers to shred… many of them aren’t necessarily sensitive information, but I don’t particularly care for the prying eyes, either.
Camping
August 29, 2007 on 8:20 am | In Footprints | No CommentsI’m pretty excited! I’m going camping this weekend, and I’m really looking forward to it. Granted, it’s not a vacation home Orlando, or anything like that, but it’s still a few days to get away from home to just chill out and relax. I’m looking forward to just sitting around the campfire, and not having to worry about anything. My kitties won’t be too happy with me being gone all weekend (and I still need to find someone to come and check on them while I’m gone), but they’ll survive. I’ll be at one of the Jellystone campgrounds, and enjoying myself. I doubt I’ll go swimming, but I’ll have that option! We’re taking games to play, and I think I’m going to stop by the library tonight or tomorrow night to get some books to lay around and be lazy! It’s going to be good ![]()
101 Steps, 3-13
August 29, 2007 on 8:06 am | In Internet | No CommentsI have fallen behind in all things internet, which is probably obvious given that I haven’t blogged here in the last two days. I have excuses, really I do!! One of the things that I’ve neglected to write about is Marcus’s 101 Steps.
I’ve been reading Marcus’s blog and attempting to do the steps as I came across them, but I didn’t realize how remiss I’d been in blogging it over here until I realized that I last blogged about steps one and two, and Marcus is on step 13!! Oops!! To catch you up on what you’ve missed… steps 3-13.

This is me this week. I don’t have a whole lot to say about the picture. It was about picture 32833497, and I finally settled because I decided it was just a week that I wasn’t going to be happy with any picture. I spent a good deal of the weekend going through the crates and boxes in the living room– it’s a complete disaster right now, but I’ve made quite a bit of progress. Now I’m tired, and I have a headache so I’m going to veg out for the rest of the night. I’ll do a proper update on my weekend at some point, I promise, I’ve just quite suddenly run out of steam for tonight.
