Scary Movies

Posted by Jennifer on August 8th, 2007

In the spirit of confessionals, and the fact that Halloween the movie has released their trailer, I feel I must admit… I haven’t seen any of the Halloween movies!
I do like scary movies, I just don’t like to watch them by myself. I’m such a chicken… if I do manage to make it through the movie alone, I’m just going to be really freaked out afterwards. Every little noise will make me jump, and I probably won’t be going to bed anytime soon. This is part of why I don’t see as many scary movies as I’d like. Remember me talking about the movie 1408? Yeah, still haven’t seen it. I don’t make it to the movie theater often (and really, that’s the best place to see a good scary movie), and when Sarah comes over, we want to put in a movie that’s funny and we don’t have to pay attention to.
I think the last scary movie I saw in the theater was The Ring. I can watch that movie now without batting an eyelash, but at the time, it was the scariest thing, EVER! I dropped everyone off at home after the movie, and when I got home myself, it was almost 2am. I opened my car door, and the neighbor was outside and said something to someone else. The voice scared me so much that I RAN from the car to the house, and practically pulled the screen door off the hinges in my hurry to get inside. Then, of course, I turned on every light in the house, and put a Disney movie on! :)
I think I might have to brave those end of the night, alone in the house jitters to see Halloween the movie, though. I mean, come on, it’s about time I see a Halloween movie, don’t you think? Besides, with Rob Zombie directing, you know it’s going to be good and twisted! I’ll need someone to come hold my hand though. And no popcorn– I’ll either jump and throw it on the floor, or scream and choke on a kernel. I want to watch a scary movie, not be a part of one! Check out the trailer below… looks promising doesn’t it?

Bento Confessional

Posted by Jennifer on August 8th, 2007

I have a confession to make… I bought a bento set. It’s the Natural Leaf set and it’s adorable. It arrived at my house probably a week ago. That’s not the confession part… the confession is I still haven’t used it. Part of the problem is that I don’t really have any bento foods in my apartment, and I haven’t had the chance to go grocery shopping. I joked with Loretta about making a bento out of a Lean Cuisine pizza, or a PB&J and Cheez-It bento. But that’s not really what I’m after… and I need to go to the grocery store to get things like celery, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, grapes, etc. etc. etc.

I’m also having a bit of performance anxiety. Now that I have my bento box in hand, I’m starting to think this might not be as easy as it looks. I’m scared! I look at all the lunches posted at BentoYum and the Bento Lunch community, and then my performance anxiety increases! But I promised Retta I’d make a bento soon, and I will… even if it has to be a PB&J and Cheez-It bento.
