College Search

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

One thing I don’t miss about college is looking for one!! My friend’s sister-in-law is a senior in high school this year, and she’s looking at what college she might like to attend, from Gibbs Melville to my Alma Mater. Obviously, that’s where I’m encouraging her to look. ;)
I don’t miss looking though… trying to choose a college was seriously stressful. I had been planning on going to the local Christian college, but I just wasn’t sure. They weren’t offering what I originally planned to study. I was already in, and planning on attending when I decided to apply to another school just to “see if I could get in.” Well, they accepted me too, and then I had to make a very difficult decision. In the end, I decided to go two and a half hours away, where I would know noone. Had I stayed local, I would have been in school with many people I went to church and to high school with. I can’t say I didn’t second guess my decision a few times, and sometimes I still wonder if I made the right choice. I went to an excellent school though, and it was ultimately very, very good for me to be away from home, out of my comfort zone for awhile. Good life experiences.

Bento Accessories

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

You know, I don’t know how people who have a TON of bento accessories find the places to STORE all of them! I have a handful of bento boxes, and a few accessories– sauce bottles (I’ve never used), cupcake liners, cookie cutters. But they were still taking over the top of my fridge. Yesterday though, I decided to clean the kitchen… never did finish… but I did find the perfect thing for Bento tool storage! I had a Dr. Pepper lunch box on top of my fridge that I had forgotten about. I got it down, cleaned it off, and stocked it up with all of those accessories. They fit perfectly, and now I have room on top of my fridge for other things. Yay!

SPS 9/30/07

Today is the last day of September. The. last. day. of. September. How freaking crazy is that?! I can’t believe that… I don’t know where this year is going, but it’s zipping by so fast! BUT I love Halloween, so I’m not overly disappointed about October. I’ll have to go dig through my storage closet soon to find the few Halloween decorations that I do have.

Visit DigiCass to see who else is participating this week, and probably less freaked about the end of the month than I am! ;)

Tumors and Bad News

Saturday, September 29th, 2007

I had my blog open most of the night yesterday trying to come up with something witty to say about drug rehabs. It just wasn’t going to happen, so I eventually closed the blog and went and did other things. We found out yesterday that one of my cousins has a very large tumor in her abdomen, and she is only 20 years old. She’ll be talking to her doctor on Monday about what to do from here, surgery/treatment-wise, but in the meantime, everyone is very upset and very scared.

When I need to think, I drive. So I closed my blog, ignored my exercise tape, and went to put gas in the car. I spent about an hour driving around town before I got tired enough that I had to come home. My head’s in a little better place this morning, but I’m still praying just as hard as I can.

Exercise and Taco Bell?

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

Is it wrong to complete day number four of my new exercise plan, and then go pick up dinner at Taco Bell? I’ve been thinking about what I have to make dinner at my apartment (or don’t have, as the case may be), how messy my kitchen is, how many other things I need to do (put laundry away, do more laundry, did I mention laundry?)… the more I think about it, the better having Taco Bell for dinner sounds. I’ll do the exercise DVD first and work up an appetite. How does that sound?

Comments Fixed?

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

Thanks for hanging in there with me guys– I believe my comments are fixed now. I spent a good portion of my night last night trying various fixes to no avail… and scouring the WordPress support forums for possible solutions. I ended up going to bed a little sad that my blog was still broken. I was beginning to think the fix was going to require something drastic. I finally found something in a support forum this morning that led me to (I think) find the problem. I’ll still be holding my breath until I get a comment from someone other than myself though!

Broken Comments

Monday, September 24th, 2007

I don’t know what changed, but my comments over here seem to be broken. I think I may know what the problem is, but I can’t access FTP from where I’m at. As soon as I get home, I’ll be trying to make that change. Hopefully it works because I’ll be clueless if it doesn’t! So hang in there, I’ll hopefully be up and running by tonight, please come back and make your comments!

Welcome to Fall

Monday, September 24th, 2007

It’s now officially fall, have you started planning your caribbean cruises yet? In just a couple of months, you are going to really wish you had… or you will if you don’t already live in a part of the country that stays warm. :) Around here, it probably won’t get cold, cold for a little while yet, but we’ll probably spend the next month or so switching back and forth between A/C and heat. I keep waiting for the days where I can shut the air off and open the window, and there have been a couple so far. But mostly it just gets too hot, and I have to turn the air back on. It won’t be too much longer and I’ll wish it were warm enough for air conditioning.

SPS 9-23-07

Sad that in a week I didn’t manage to fix my Photopress… Note to self: work on it!!

I decided to take this week’s picture outside… I was getting tired of deciding every week whether to take it in front of the window, or the front door. LOL Besides, the apartment was WAAAAY to messy!

Visit DigiCass to see if anyone else changed it up this week.

Master Chefs

Saturday, September 22nd, 2007

Since starting my new cooking blog a couple of weeks ago, I’ve been surprised to discover just how many budding chefs I already read on a daily basis. I’ve also been really surprised by how many people that I consider to be good cooks, still consider themselves to be learning. I think part of this is probably just a continued quest for knowledge, but I think part of it is also people never giving themselves credit for what they CAN do.

I know I don’t give myself enough credit for what I do in the kitchen, but the fact remains that I am incredibly inexperienced. I didn’t cook spaghetti noodles for the first time until this past May. And I’m 24!! That’s kind of crazy. I finally started the Recipe Challenge over on Jenn Cooks though, so feel free to come give me a recipe to test!
