Me, Morphed

Friday, October 12th, 2007

I’ve been meaning to get around to this for awhile, and I figured since I’m home on a Friday night, just relaxing and avoiding the scary mess that is the state of my apartment… no time like the present! The folks over at Zoombli gave me the opportunity to test out their Morpheus Photo-Morpher software.
Of course, the first step was to pick two pictures to blend together. I decided to go with something I thought would be fairly easy, and chose two pictures of myself — one before I got my hair cut (from July, actually) and one with the newer, shorter hair. The Morpheus software walks you through the entire process, and it was very easy. All I had to do was upload my two pictures, and then add in dots to tell the software where my features were in each of the pictures. I put a dot on each of my eyes, the end of my nose, the corners of my mouth, my chin, and my forehead.
I previewed the morph, and then decided to slow it down so I could actually see the change. And not get sick from the pictures moving too fast. It was all very easy!! I wish I’d heard of this back when I was in high school– this would have been neat to use for a montage of pictures at the graduation open house! Check out the software when you get the chance, it’s really neat. But before you go, look at my morph below, and let me know– long hair or short?

Blanket Progress
This is what it looked like the last time you saw it:
Basket Weave Blanket

Not as much progress as I would’ve liked, but there has been movement on this blanket, so I’ll take it. As you can see, I’ve now started the second block of the basket weave. Only about a bazillion more to go. I need to work at a much faster pace or this blanket won’t be ready by the baby’s Christmas Day due date!

Why I Love my Mother

Friday, October 12th, 2007

Obviously, the reasons I love my mom are many and varied, but there is something that has inspired this post today. She’s willing to do a lot for me. Several months ago, I found myself at work, with chapped lips, and no chap stick. Guess who came to my rescue?? (Yes, I realize this one makes me sound like a spoiled brat.)
Today I found myself at work with an unexpected, early monthly visitor and almost no supplies with me. So I’m sitting here trying to figure out just what to do about my situation, and it occurs to me that my mom told me yesterday she was planning on taking the day off of work. Mom to the rescue again. I put in a call, and she dropped everything to come help me out. Thanks, mom!

Note to self: be better prepared. Put supplies that you accidentally took out of the car, BACK IN the car! If I had a locker here at work, or desk drawers that weren’t open to the boys I work with, my life would be much easier.

Animal Jewelry

Friday, October 12th, 2007

What do you get the animal lover in your life for Christmas? Well, there’s always animal jewelry. Naturally, the first category I looked at was the frog jewelry. Sometimes these things can be rather cheesy, but I was surprised to see some cute items among the hokey ones. I was also definitely surprised to see how many different animals there are earrings or necklaces for. I don’t really wear a whole lot of jewelry (though there’s a frog bracelet there that was very cute…), but maybe the animal lover you know would really like something.
