Last Day of NaBloPoMo
November 30, 2007 on 8:09 am | In Blog Stuff | 3 CommentsWell, here we are! With this post right here, I’m officially fulfilling my commitment to NaBloPoMo! (You know, 30 days later, that still sounds like a dirty word…) When I first decided to do this, I thought to myself, “Self, you already try and post every day, how hard could it be?” What I was not thinking about was all the other months that I didn’t post every day because I just didn’t feel like it. And to think, I had briefly considered doing NaBloPoMo on more than one blog. HA! At least I came to my senses within about, oh, a half an hour.
So the question goes to the rest of you… did you make it or is there one glaringly blank day in your November calendar? Did you resort to writing about condos for sale just so that you could fill in a post every day, or did writing fresh content every day come easily to you?? I’d have to say that most days it wasn’t too much of a problem for me. There were a few days though (like last Saturday) when I came home late after being out all day and had to frantically rush through a post to squeak it in before midnight (I believe the timestamp ended up being 11:58pm. Phew!).
Almost Done Christmas Shopping
November 29, 2007 on 8:29 pm | In Footprints | 1 CommentYes, you heard me right. I am almost done Christmas shopping. I picked up a few more things tonight, and now the only person I have left to buy for is my dad. My dad who can’t remember what he was going to tell me he wanted for Christmas. *sigh*
Granted, I’m still waiting on many things to arrive with the lovely UPS man, but for now all I can do is sit and wait. And then it will be time to start wrapping everything. I just can’t believe I got so much accomplished, and it’s not even December yet! Woohoo! Probably the first time I’ve been so on top of things.
Today I also bought a strand of green Christmas lights so I can “fix” my Christmas tree. I think that will be a good project for tomorrow. I just couldn’t make myself get into that tonight. I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather the last couple of days so I’m probably going to head to bed in a minute here.
What do I mean by cleaning?
November 28, 2007 on 8:13 pm | In Around the House | 3 CommentsIt occurred to me just a minute ago that I am always mentioning that I “need to clean” but I haven’t really clarified what I mean by that. You might be thinking of washing the dishes, and vacuuming the carpets, but that’s not really what I need to do. Since explaining wouldn’t really convey exactly what I’m dealing with, I decided to take a picture.
This is my couch. It’s a mess, huh? Luckily, this is currently the only pile of crap in my living room. You might be thinking, okay, Jenn, but it’s still a very large pile of crap! Yes, yes it is. But there used to be a whole lot more than this. (Thank you Roomba! I cleaned so I could run my robotic vacuum LOL) So when I say I need to clean, I really mean “I need to sort through the piles of crap in my living room.” On that couch are a year’s worth of several magazine subscriptions, many things that need to go in the trash, many things that need to go in the garage sale next spring, and many things that need boxed up and put into the storage unit. Oh, and that long white box on top? That needs to find a UPS drop box, if I could only figure out where one of those is! I almost get a migraine just thinking about tackling that mess!
The Biggest Loser
November 27, 2007 on 8:59 pm | In Health and Wellness, Television | 3 CommentsI’m in another one of my “I just don’t want to blog right now” phases. I was sitting over on the couch, watching the Biggest Loser and crocheting when I realized that I hadn’t blogged yet today. It was so tempting to just let it go, but I’m sooo close to the end of NaBloPoMo that I don’t want to give it up just yet.
Are any of you still watching the Biggest Loser? It’s one of the only shows that I make sure I catch every week. I’m not sure who I’m rooting for though. Other than Bob, but he obviously doesn’t count.
I would like to see Bea go home, not because I don’t like him, but because I cannot stand the red team trainer and he’s the only one left keeping her there.
Watching the Biggest Loser every week is always motivating. It makes me stop and go… hey, I can do that. I SHOULD do that! But if you check Jenn Loses Weight you can see that I’m just not doing it. I need to though. I HAVE to. It’s coming.
Monday, Monday
November 26, 2007 on 8:28 pm | In Footprints | No CommentsWhat can I say about today? It was a Monday, all the way around. If you work with people at all, you know what I mean about it being a typical Monday at work.
Afterwards, I came home, changed and went to my mom’s for dinner. It’s cold and nasty outside, but a home cooked meal will always lure me out
We played Tetris for awhile (I won
), LOVE the wi-fi on the Nintendo DS! Now I’m home, and considering going to bed early. Probably will wait until House is over though.
Self Portrait Sunday 11/25/07
November 25, 2007 on 5:06 pm | In Footprints, Self Portrait Sunday | 6 Comments
Happy Sunday everyone
How are we doing today? Not too bad here. This picture is me, in my Izea shirt, taken earlier this week. Today, I have been mostly relaxing. I got my Christmas tree up today, but apparently someone forgot to turn off my mental popup blocker because I have only Christmas lights on a white strand. Let me tell you, they stick out on a green Christmas tree like sore thumb! I spent so much time running around town over the last couple of days though that I’m leaving it as is for now. I’ll get green-stranded lights at some other time.
For right now, I need to clean up the mess I made while dragging out the box of decorations. Then I need to make a little more progress on my pig sty, which is much less sty-ish since I’ve been cleaning things up so I can watch the Roomba vacuum my carpets hehe! I’m checking a few things off of my to-do list that have been there for far too long, and I’m watching movies– mostly holiday themed ones at that.
Before I run off to be productive again though, I’m going to visit DigiCass to see who else participated in SPS today.
Spending Money
November 24, 2007 on 11:58 pm | In Shopping | No CommentsI’m spending money like it’s going out of style! I haven’t spent all that much when you consider that over the last two days I’ve purchased 85% of my Christmas presents, a new TV for me, Christmas decorations, birthday presents, and many other things. It’s just kind of shocking to the system because I’m used to spreading out my shopping a little bit more than this! I’m starting to feel like I need drug rehab for my shopping addiction, or at least someone to come take all my credit/debit cards away from me.
Today Erica and I spent the day running all over town. We went to Hacienda this morning, and then to Walmart, and Steve and Barry’s, and back to her house because Aiden was tired and having a meltdown. We stayed there for a couple hours and then it was out for dinner, to another Walmart and Meijer. But I’m definitely done shopping for awhile. I have only Aiden, Ryan, and Dad to get presents for yet, so that will probably come out of my next paycheck.
Right now I really want to set up my Christmas tree and decorate, but I need to get to bed. I’m kind of getting a second wind and that’s not a good thing. It’s not a problem today, but if I stay up late, I’ll sleep late. And then I won’t be able to go to bed at “bed time” tomorrow night! If you don’t get up early mornings for work, take it from me– that’s not a good way to start the work week!
Black Friday Shopping
November 23, 2007 on 9:46 am | In Shopping | 2 CommentsI generally have a very strict rule in regards to Black Friday– “Don’t leave the house.” Last year was not a problem, I got off work at 7am, came home and went to bed. The year before that was a similar story, but I was working at a retail store, and seeing the crowds on my way out the door at 6am (and the amount of returns ALREADY) was insane!!
This year, however, I broke my own rule. I went Black Friday shopping, and I went alone. There were a few deals in the Meijer ad that I just couldn’t pass up. By virtue of being a 24 hour store, they also got my vote as I could do my waiting inside where it was warm rather than outside in the snow. The downfall was that for the “hot ticket” items, you had to wait in line and get a ticket. Two things that I wanted had separate lines… so I had to make a decision. One line I was pretty much guaranteed to get what I was after, and the other line was questionable. I went for the sure thing. It also helped that a couple of the other things on my list were “in the line” that I was going to be standing in.
So I got up at 3:30, was at Meijer by 4. The sale officially started at 5am. I checked out, went to McDonalds for breakfast and was still home by about 20 after five. I had briefly considered going from Meijer to Target but decided that I’d rather come back home and go back to bed. I still haven’t gone back to bed, but I’m glad I didn’t go to Target– the local news was there, and they were broadcasting live as they opened the doors there. Yeah, there were at least 1200 people running through the doors. No thank you!! I’m doing more shopping on the internet this morning, and I’m still hoping to take a nap at some point this morning.
Did you go Black Friday shopping this morning? Tell me about your good deals!
Oh, and here’s what I got this morning– Merry Christmas to me! ![]()

Happy Thanksgiving
November 22, 2007 on 6:22 pm | In Footprints | No CommentsHappy Thanksgiving, everyone! I’m sure by now, you all have a nice turkey coma going. I got up this morning, and made some Pecan Pie Cookies. I was going to make something else too, but when I got my celery out of the fridge, part of it had frozen, and the rest of it wasn’t looking too hot either. Oh well! The cookies turned out fabulous!
First stop was dinner with my mom’s side of the family. We talked, we laughed, and we ate until we couldn’t eat anymore! Then we all begged people to take home our leftovers lol Actually I just had to find takers for the last 4 cookies, which turned out to not be so difficult. Once everything was cleaned up, I left for my dad’s side of the family, which was, of course, almost over. I think I was there for an hour all together. But I got there in time to hug and snuggle Killian before they packed up and left. Now I’m home, and it’s snowing outside. Right now it’s still pretty… I won’t think so tomorrow when I’m cleaning off my car. ![]()
And because it’s a Thanksgiving post, just a few of the things I’m thankful for.
- My family, all of them, even the ones that drive me crazy!
- Friends. Both the ones here, and the ones that are spread all over the country.
- A job that pays the bills, and a boss that I actually like.
- Two spoiled rotten cats.
- Nephews that are growing up waaay too fast.
Obviously that list does not encompass everything, but that’s a good start. For now, I’m going to get off of here and go through tomorrow’s ads. I’m actually considering going shopping tomorrow morning. Quick– someone talk some sense into me!
My Roomba Came!
November 21, 2007 on 8:19 am | In Around the House | 2 CommentsAfter a long day, I was just glad to be able to head home for the night. Imagine my delight when I opened my front door and saw not one, but two packages on the floor just inside the door. And most importantly, one of those packages contained my ROOMBA! The oh so amazing Jules had graciously offered to ship it to me from Vegas, and it finally arrived, ready to be played with!
Of course, like many other things, it languished in the box for some time while I did other things. It is, after all, a vacuum and that means cleaning. I was watching a lousy movie though, and decided to get it out of the box and start playing. There is now one small clean patch of carpet in my living room! LOL Just what it happened to clean up before I sent it searching for the automatic charging dock. My brilliant plan was to dock it, and then start actually cleaning (or at least piling all the things currently on the floor on top of the furniture) so that I could run the Roomba. But then my mom called, and she was over at my brother’s with Killian. Always the one to take advantage of the chance to play with my nephew, I went over there instead. Ah, the best laid plans.
So tonight I plan to clean the living room (again, or pile things on top of the furniture) so I can run the Roomba through a cleaning cycle. I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited to clean my living room before. So hopefully I’ll do that between baking cookies for tomorrow. First plan of action after I get home from work though– a nap!
