Sleeping In and Playing Santa
Footprints January 5th, 2008That’s always the best part of Saturday mornings… you get up at 5:15 every other morning, but on Saturdays, when you crack your eyes open at 4:45 am you know you can roll over and go back to sleep and there won’t be an alarm going off in thirty short minutes to get you out of bed. That’s how it’s supposed to be anyways. If you can’t see where this is going already, that is NOT how my Saturday morning turned out. I woke up at 4:30 this morning, hungry and with an ache on the outside of my leg. Not enough to be painful, but just enough to keep me from being able to find a comfortable enough position to go back to sleep. I stayed in bed just as long as I could stand it, but I gave up shortly after 5. Earlier than I give up when the alarm is trying to get me out of bed during the week.
Though, one thing for the early morning… I got some things done! I finally found the return forms and boxes for some items I ordered back in November that needed to get shipped back. I even took them to the post office and used the 24 hour kiosk to get them mailed out, and some stamps so I could take care of this month’s bills. Paid my rent and came home to balance my checkbook. All at an ungodly hour of the morning!
Erica called about 9am to see what I was doing today (waiting until I knew she was up and then calling her to see if she had plans lol), so we made a plan and she picked me up about 10:30 or so. We decided to go to Hacienda for lunch first, but we were a few minutes early so we waited in the parking lot for awhile before we headed inside. Naturally Aiden insisted on getting out of the carseat.

No worries, the keys may have been in the ignition, but the car was DEFINITELY shut off! After lunch, we went to Walmart and this is the part where you should be proud of me. I didn’t buy a single thing! I really wanted to go back and check out the yarn because I’ve decided I want to make a new blanket for myself, but I held back because it’s not something I need and I’m in the middle of a project or two as it is already. I can’t remember the last time I left Walmart empty handed, though this is usually aided by the fact that I go there with something specific in mind (usually a movie new release).
I finally got to give Aiden his Christmas present too. He was too funny– he’d start ripping the paper off and then he’d pick it up and carry it into his bedroom so that he could unwrap it where he thought we couldn’t watch him. I got him a couple pair of pants that his mama said he needed, and then a couple of books. Aunt Jennifer likes books, and it looks like Aiden does too!

He does like books, but don’t be fooled by that picture. Shortly after the flash went off, he carried it into the living room, chewed on it for a minute, and then used it as a platform to stand on. I got him the Rainbow Fish and Sheep in a Jeep which I cracked up reading out loud to Erica. Someday he’ll be interested in the story inside and not just what the books taste like, and when he does, the books will be there for him.

Is Hacienda a Mexican restaurant? What a cute little guy! How old is he?
