This Friday is payday, which also happens to be one of my “extra” paychecks of the year. I had planned to stock up on some groceries, and hoped to put most of the rest of it into savings for when my car insurance comes due just before Christmas, and onto the credit card I’m focusing on at the moment. And then I realized that the cats are due to go to the vet this month. I won’t be buying them alot of expensive pet supplements or anything like that, but their annual shots alone aren’t cheap, especially when they come two at a time. My license needs to be renewed before my birthday. Oh, and I’m way overdue to have my eyes checked and get a new pair of glasses.
Hmm… something tells me that those things might suck up a little more of my extra paycheck than I’d have liked. I won’t complain too much though because at least I will be able to afford them. Even if I can’t watch that Capital One balance go down as much as I had wanted, I won’t be skidding backwards this month. I hope. I’m picking up a little extra overtime this weekend due to the company picnic that should help out with that a little bit. So it’s not what I had planned, but it should work out.

A couple weeks ago I decided I wanted to buy a black skirt. Little did I know, that was going to turn out to be a nearly impossible task. My first several trips out resulted in finding absolutely ZERO skirts. Friday night, I finally found a couple of skirts, but they just didn’t work. Saturday I was out and about shopping with Sarah, and still couldn’t find anything like I was looking for. I think I looked in about 15 different stores, and still left empty handed. Everything I found hit a couple inches below the knee, which if you’ve ever been a chubby chick, you know this is not a flattering length. I’m really looking for a plan black skirt that is knee length… not a few inches longer than that! Apparently, I should have spent the day yesterday shopping for unique baby gifts because I saw plenty of those… I did find a completely adorable skirt at Layne Bryant, but it was too long, just like all the rest of them. Apparently, if you’re fat, you’re not allowed to show more than the three inches above your ankles. I still would like to find a black skirt, but for now, I’m out of ideas.

By looking at this picture, you’d probably think that I’ve spent the entire day in my pajamas. And you’d almost be right! Closer to this morning, I shaved my legs and took a shower and then I was right back in my pajamas. You may have caught on to this by now, but I’m a big fan of lazy Sundays. I did wash my dishes, but my sparkling Danze faucets (HA!) notwithstanding, I haven’t been all that productive today. I would love to get motivated to do a little more necessary cleaning, but I don’t see that happening.
At some point, I’ll make something for dinner. In a couple of hours, shockingly, I’ll change out of my pajamas and go for a walk. Then I have plans to make and test a homemade sugar scrub. We’ll see though because that, on top of a walk and previously shaved legs, sounds dangerously close to productive for a Sunday evening.
In the meantime, go check out Midlife Musings to see if anyone else is feeling productive today.

A couple weeks ago, I was filling out one of those email surveys (ah, the things you’ll do when you’re bored at work), and one of the questions was “What is your biggest pet peeve?” I think I ended up leaving the question blank. Not because I don’t have pet peeves because I surely do, but because I couldn’t decide which pet peeve was the BIGGEST.
In the last week though, I think I have it figured out — People who insist on using the stall next to you in the bathroom. Now, if there are only two stalls, or if there a lot of people using the restroom, it’s not a big deal. BUT if there are 4 or 5 stalls, and I’m in the one on the end, it will really drive me crazy. Seriously. WHY? If there are 3 or 4 empty stalls that are NOT immediately next to me, why why why must you choose the only stall that IS? Isn’t there an unwritten rule out there for this?
In the last couple of days, I’ve developed a brand new pet peeve. People who set their sprinklers to where they spray water over the sidewalk. I’m trying to do some more walking as my desk job is really starting to get to me, but it’s really annoying to have to choose between dodging traffic or getting wet because somebody just HAS to water the sidewalk along with their front lawn. Yes, it’s August. Yes, it’s hot out. No, I am not so hot that I feel the need to run through the sprinkler on my trip around the block.
What are your pet peeves?
