Break out your Fat Pants…

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

…DQ has a dollar menu!! I’ve been seeing it on TV for a little while. Their “sweet deals” are certain menu items that you can buy two for $3, three for $4, or four for $5. It includes a cheeseburger, hotdog, chicken wrap, onion rings, french fries, side salad, soft drink, small sundae or a small dipped cone. Sounds good to me!!

Even sweeter? DQ wants to know… what kind of deal would you be willing to make to try their Sweet Deals for free? I’d be willing to blow my diet. Repeatedly. Oh wait… I do that when I’m the one bankrolling it. Hmm…

SPS 2/22/09

A day late and a dollar short. Man, I look tired in this picture! I was tired… shortly after taking it, I laid down and ended up taking a two and a half hour nap! And I still didn’t want to get up! I don’t really have much to report from my weekend. I did a little bit of shopping on Friday night, and then I didn’t leave the apartment again until I had to leave for work this morning!

So for lack of anything better to say… a selection of my tweets from this past week:

~Eating junior mints, watching Jerry Maguire and researching eHow. 5:19 PM Feb 16th from web
~I have really got to start using the underpass. Hate waiting for a train a block from home. 3:18 PM Feb 17th from txt

~Finally in for the night. Now, I think with the exception of a trip to the dumpster or 2, I’d like to stay in my apt. until Monday morning. 7:47 PM Feb 20th from web
~The high school canceled classes today because they had no heat. My work PLANS to shut the heat off and they say “dress appropriately.” Hmmm 8:18 PM Feb 20th from web

See how much you’ve been missing out on? (Yeah right!)

Yeah, About That…

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

Do they make laptop memory for human brains? Cause I had every intention of posting a self portrait yesterday… I took a picture before I took a nap, and then I even got the pictures off of my camera and onto the computer. Then I got completely distracted with other things (painting my toenails, shaving my legs and watching Fever Pitch) and never got it posted. I didn’t even get the picture uploaded, so I can’t post it right now. Maybe when I get home tonight… if I remember!

I’ve also gotta say, I’ve had just about enough of this snow thing! After I got in on Friday night, I didn’t leave my apartment until this morning. I grossly underestimated the amount of snow there would be on my car. It took me FOREVER to get my windows clear this morning! Enough to make me seriously late for work… if I’d realized how much snow there was, I’d have gone out sometime yesterday and cleared at least some of it off. As it is, my car is still sitting in the parking lot at work with several inches on top!

The Library Ripped Me Off

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

I’m so disappointed! At least one of the local libraries no longer uses due date cards. You know, those yellow cards (blue or green if it’s a brand new book with a short checkout time) with the date stamped on it? I went to get books a week ago, and instead of getting cards in every book with a due date, I got one receipt with the book titles and due dates. How am I supposed to know when I need to bring my books back to the library?! Surely you don’t expect me to hold on to that receipt… I’m sure I’ve probably already lost it.

So now I can’t simply flip to the front of the book to find the due date. And, possibly even more horrifying, now I have to supply my own bookmark!! Why does everything have to be updated? I picked up a new book I had on hold the other day, and it didn’t even have a pocket in the front. I was so sad! What’s next? The local radio station stops shilling their sleep number bed several times an hour? That would rock my world!

Smell Like Fruit Salad

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

I went shopping with some of the money from my tax refund. Some of the money is in savings, and there’s yet more that I haven’t decided if I’m going to spend or save. I’m still considering the whole Orlando vacations thing, but right now I’m thinking that’s going to be a no.

One of the things I *did* buy with the money, though, was a Burt’s Bees Hand Repair Kit, and a kit for my feet… I don’t remember what that one was called. And some lip balm, of course. So I’ve been pampering my hands and feet the last couple nights. I was laying in bed last night reading a book, with cotton gloves on my hands, and cotton socks on my feet… and I’m thinking, “I smell like a fruit basket.” Lucy obviously thought so too, as she kept sniffing my toes.

I had coconut foot creme, lemon butter cuticle creme, banana hand creme… I also have some of the almond hand creme, if I decided to mix it up a bit. And then of course, I got up this morning before work and put on my favorite bath and body works scent, which is currently Mango Mandarin. Yep, I smell like a fruit basket. I can only imagine what I’d smell like if I used more of their head to toe products– I don’t think any of them have the same scent!

SPS 2/15/09

This is how I intend to stay basically all day today– PJs and a sweatshirt! There may be a trip to the grocery store later, but I haven’t even looked at the ad yet, so I’m still rather undecided on that whole leaving the house thing. :) I do have a bit of cleaning to do here today… something stinks in the kitchen and I can’t figure out what it is. I have a sneaking suspicion it might be the garbage disposal.

I’ve had a pretty good weekend so far. Friday night was my aunt’s birthday dinner, and then yesterday Sarah and I had a Valentine’s date. Her husband had to work, so we went to see He’s Just Not That Into You and picked up dinner at Chipotle. Spent the rest of the night chatting and catching up. It was a good night!

You’ve already heard my plans for the rest of the day… PJs, cleaning, maybe a trip to the grocery store. I’ve also got the second disk of Weeds Season Two to watch so I can get it sent back to Blockbuster before they make me buy it. Hope you all had a lovely Valentine’s Day yesterday, and enjoy your Sunday before the work week starts again!

Productive Monday Morning

Monday, February 9th, 2009

That’s my hope anyways…. so far, so good, but it’s only 8am. I was up about 10 minutes before my alarm, which I find really frustrating, but I really had to pee so there’s not much I could do about that! But I got up, got breakfast, got dressed and got out the door on time. I don’t think that happens on Monday mornings… ever. I even managed to swing by the post office on my way in and get my state tax return in the mail. Now the next step in my productive Monday is to get a post on all three of my blogs. I’m starting with this one :)

I’m currently dropping Entrecards, and house “shopping” online. NO, I’m not looking to buy a house, so don’t get excited. My friend Amy is though, and I like looking at what’s available even if I’m not ready to buy. I’m always getting ideas of what I’m looking for, and I will be ready to buy eventually, I promise. I’ve still got a mess to clean up first though, so until then, please stop telling me about the perfect house you found with the aluminum fence installation, and front porch, and storage space with lots of counters in the kitchen. I only find it frustrating. Trust me, I want out of my apartment more than you want me out of it!

Well, I also have work orders to close, so I guess I better get on with the being productive.

IMG_4986

Okay, so it’s not technically a self-portrait, but this is from Killian’s birthday party yesterday. My sister-in-law took the picture, but it wasn’t for lack of trying on my part. Trust me, Killian wasn’t having any of my attempts on my own:

My camera was just not interesting compared to the crayons that were just out of the frame there. But I wanted to get a picture with him since I got a picture of the two of us at his birthday party last year too. I thought it would be fun to do every year (at least as long as he’ll let me)!

I can’t believe how quickly time goes by, and how much he’s grown. Like my friend said the other day, “How is he two already? He was just born, like, yesterday!” Before we know it, he’s going to be shopping for car insurance quotes and trying to decide where he’s going to college!

Getting a Tax Refund

Friday, February 6th, 2009

So I *finally* got my W-2 on Monday… I know, they don’t have to have them mailed out until January 31st, but I’m impatient. I wanted to know exactly how much I’d be getting back so I could make plans. Besides, the earlier you get your tax return in, the faster you get your refund! I filed my taxes this week (still have to mail in my state return, thanks to a processing error), and I’m expecting a decent chunk of change back. Now I just have to decide what I’m going to do with the money! Buying New York Yankees tickets is not on my list, but I do have a few other ideas…

First I thought I’d buy a treadmillbecause I’ve wanted one for a long time…

Then I thought, well, I could take that money and use it for an upgrade– I could buy the camera I’ve had my eye on for agesand I really liked that idea…

But then I thought about the conference I wanted to attend this fall, but couldn’t afford. I could use my tax refund to pay for my conference ticket, airfare, hotel and extra expenditures.

Or I could be really boring and put the money in savings or onto one of my credit cards. Mark this one in the “what I SHOULD be doing with the money” column. Realistically, I’m leaning toward options 2 or 3… or both, but I’m having a hard time deciding.
