SPS 2/28/10

Today is the last day of February. I feel like I say this alot, but where the heck is the time going?! But at least I’ve got a picture that doesn’t look like it’s for a best acne medicine ad lol

I had a pretty good Sunday. I woke up way too freaking early, as I always seem to do. After spending some time just playing around on the computer, I did some cleaning up around the house. Then I showered and headed over to my Grandma’s house for dinner with Grandma, Mom and Harold. Then we spent some time playing Groups and Runs, and a good time was had by all. It was just nice to hang out and play cards… we used to play games all the time, and we just hadn’t done that in a long time. Cards used to be a huge staple of family gatherings, and growing up Mom and I would just call up Grandma and announce we were coming over.

Anyways, I had a lot of fun, and I’d like to do that more often in the future. :) And since I know she’ll be reading this– I love you Grandma!

Now, I’m watching the end of the Amazing Race before heading to bed… time to start a new week! Yay?

Super Saturday

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

I had a great Saturday! Sarah and I had a nice girls day, no testosterone boosters required. She came and picked me up at 9am, and we headed towards Michigan City and the Lighthouse outlet Mall.

I bought a few pair of earrings at Claire’s, walked out of the Pepperidge Farm outlet store empty handed, and bought 5 antibacterial soaps from Bath and Body Works for less than $13. All in all, it was a successful trip! I also had plans to visit the Corelle outlet there in hopes of buying additional plates in the pattern I have. My glasses had other plans though!

We were headed to the car to move it around to the other side of the mall (it’s all outdoors, and it was snowy and windy– too far to walk there and back in the cold!) All of a sudden, POP, and I stuck my hand out to catch one of the lenses that was falling. The screw was long gone though, so we left and headed for a Walgreens to get an eyeglasses repair kit. A few minutes later, I had a new screw in my glasses so I could see again!

Rather than heading back to the outlet mall (I’d decided I’d already spent enough money there), we decided to go for home. Partway there, we detoured to the Four Winds casino… unfortunately all I did there was donate $20. Oh well. It was fun! Then we really did go home and stop spending money. I’ll have to go back and check out the Corelle store at another time.

My Best Friend Sarah

I know I mention Sarah all the time… We did this, we did that, she came over, we talked for 5 hours straight… but I’m not sure I’ve ever just sat down and talked about Sarah.

Sarah is one of my best friends in the whole world. I say one of because I’m not a person who has a large group of casual friends… I have just a few very close friends. Sarah is the friend that I’ve had the longest. We grew up just a few houses apart, and we spent all our summer days walking back and forth, playing Barbies, swimming and would you believe, watching Days of Our Lives?

These days we have to drive back and forth, and we no longer play Barbies, but we still love to spend time together. When we get together, it’s not unusual for 4 or 5 hours to go by without a break in the conversation. We talk about everything from the news and diet pill side effects, to our fears and goals for the future. I can tell her anything. She knows the things that very few other people do, and some things that noone else knows, not even my mother. (Sorry, Mom!) We can’t wait until we can torture our kids together, and tell people we’ve been best friends for 30 years.

We’re halfway there! I love you Sarah!

SPS 2/21/10

Picture taken just a little while ago when I got home from Killian’s birthday party. I’ll have to write another post about that and share pictures later. I’m sure there’s plenty of other things I should be sharing since I haven’t posted since last Sunday… maybe about the Beauty Control party last night… Sarah coming over… disability appeal… wait, maybe not that one…

Or the fact that I finally got my new camera! I took this week’s Self Portrait Sunday picture with it in fact. It’s got a whole lot of bells and whistles I still need to learn how to use, but so far I’m happy with it! Killian’s party today was the first time I really got to use it other than trying to snap pictures of the cats just so I could play with my camera lol

Well, I hope you’re all having a great Sunday! I think I’m going to go lay on the couch for awhile and watch the end of The Notebook on that’s playing on ABC Family right now.

SPS 2/14/10

Notice anything different this week? :D No hair supplements involved, but maybe a little hair dye… Do you like it?

So there’s my weekend… getting my hair did, running errands, and doing some laundry and cleaning up around the house. Right now I’m watching Whip It (the roller derby movie Drew Barrymore directed) on On Demand and so far I love it! I’m also trying to ignore the lure of the Sunday afternoon nap.

Hope you all are having a wonderful Valentine’s Day, however you are celebrating it!

Amazon is a Tease

15 min battery charger

Yes, that’s right. Amazon has spent the last week screwing with me.

You see, I ordered a new camera with my tax return money. I placed the order on Monday, and all the items in my order (camera, batteries, memory card, case, etc.) were coming from Amazon except for one. By Monday afternoon, I’d gotten a shipping notification for the battery charger that was coming from another seller.

That battery charger, which you see pictured up top there, arrived on Wednesday. It also arrived with a box from Amazon. In that box was the extra set of batteries. Interesting that those two items came together. So then I got online to check on the shipment of the other items in my order, and Amazon told me they wouldn’t be shipping until Tuesday the 16th. Waaah! I had to sit on my hands to keep from changing my shipping to one or two day.

Of course, by Friday afternoon, I’d gotten an email to let me know that the rest of my order had shipped. A quick log-in to Amazon told me that it has an estimated arrival date of Thursday the 18th. Oh yeah, and they wouldn’t be updating my tracking info for three days. Now I’m convinced that they are just screwing with me. I wouldn’t be surprised to receive a box with something like Anilox in it… just to say HAHA! You thought it was your camera! Sucker!

Anyways… that charger that I did get? It’s awesome. It’s not cheap, obviously, but it really does charge batteries in 15 minutes! It’s not quiet– it’s got a fan that runs the whole time it is plugged in, but that’s not too obnoxious. The charger also comes with a power adapter for your car. That will be very convenient for traveling or for holidays where I’m taking lots of pictures and going from one gathering to another. I had fun charging batteries for about half an hour, but now I’d like to get my camera so I can put those charged batteries IN something. Okay Amazon? Thanks! :)

Are we all enjoying Superbowl Sunday? Watching the game, or just the ads? I’m rooting for the Colts, otherwise I’d be tuning out except for the commercials :) Actually I’d probably be watching something on the TiVo and looking for the commercials online tomorrow! lol

Anyways, another week gone by between making Self Portrait Posts. It’s not like I haven’t had anything to write about (like did you know that you can buy an electric cigarette now? Seriously? That was something we needed?) I just haven’t had the motivation to come over here and write anything down! I like to write things, share pictures and such while I’m at work, but they blocked all the photosharing sites on the network so I can’t get to flickr or photobucket…. makes it a little difficult to blog!

I had a good weekend, and a fairly productive one at that. Friday night was a Beauty Control party with some friends… a great group that always makes for a good time! I spent most of the rest of my weekend alternating between napping and cleaning! I also made a batch of no-bake cookies because I cleaned out my pantry and had 3 different containers of oatmeal lol

For right now, I need to dry my hair and I’m getting in bed as soon as the game ends!
