#10 Send a Secret to Postsecret

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

Another item to cross off of my 101 Things in 1001 Days list. I’ve made a secret to send to Postsecret. And no, I won’t be sharing it here… it wouldn’t be a secret if I did! It’s not actually in the mail yet, but it will be when I leave the house next. I might let you know if it gets posted. In the meantime, you can check the Postsecret site and let me know if you figure out which one is mine. They update every Sunday.

And a hint, it has nothing whatsoever to do with cell signal boosters, but I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that that isn’t going to help you out very much. ;)

#76 Sew Something

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

I’ve got another thing to cross off of my 101 Things in 1001 Days list, and I didn’t even realize it while I was doing it. #76 was to sew something, and I accomplished that on Sunday when I made an apron!

Finished Apron

The seams are not so straight (what do you mean they’re not supposed to be wavy?), the one bottom corner didn’t turn out very well, and I’m certainly not going to zoom in on the stitching on the tie. But it’s done, and it’s cute!

Wearing MY apron

I think that counts as having sewn something, crooked stitches and all! :)

21, 34, and 79 Crossed Off

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

I thought it was time to update you guys on my 101 Things in 1001 Days progress. Mostly I put together the list and forgot all about it, but I do have a few things to cross off.

21. Save all my change for one month.
I don’t have specific dates for this one but since I started just before my list went up, and can’t remember the last time I spent change, I’m going to go ahead and mark this one done. Other than quarters for laundry, all my change has been added to empty peanut butter jars. I would update you with how much money I saved, but I didn’t keep it separate from the pennies and other change I’ve half-heartedly saved for years.

34. (Private)
Well, as this one is private on my list, it will remain private here as well, but I did want to let you know that I am able to cross this one off the list as accomplished.

79. Receive flowers
This one originally read “Send myself flowers” because I tried to keep the list to things that I didn’t require another person in order to accomplish… Really all I wanted was to get flowers, but in the spirit of making sure the list was all things I could accomplish without relying on another person, I said I’d send them to myself. Since my best friend is AMAZING and she has a wonderful fiance, however, they sent me flowers at work on my birthday. This meets the spirit of the goal, so I’m marking it complete!

And if anyone wants to buy me a camcorder so I can cross #29 off my list without having to spend my own money to do so, awesome. ;)

Oh, here are the flowers I got on my birthday:

I was so freaking excited :)

Starting Early

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

I doubt anyone noticed, but I quietly added my 101 Things in 1001 Days list to the site yesterday. I had originally intended to start my project on my birthday which isn’t for another month or so, but I have the majority of the list in place and #28 is to revisit the goals at least once every 6 months. I decided there is no reason not to get started since the list is mostly done, and I have permission to revisit and revise it anyways.

If you look over my list, you’ll see there are some serious goals on there, and a whole lot of silly things as well. I’m already planning how to complete several of them. Like #17 Take a Roadtrip. Sarah and I are talking about trips we might like to take. We’re talking about anything from driving to Virginia (the more traditional road trip route) to flying out for one of those Vegas vacations. It will all depend on what kind of money we end up saving for that purpose, I guess, seeing as we both have some financial goals as well!

I just threw up the list quickly, so I’ll be going back through to update the things that are/will be in progress, and put a little more explanation up on the page. Given #11, I’ll keep you posted. ;)

101 Things in 1001 Days

Monday, June 30th, 2008

I’ve been mulling over the idea of a 101 Things in 1001 Days list since I first heard about them, but I’m not one for jumping on a bandwagon simply for the sake of being on the bandwagon. So I just let it pass me by… it’s been awhile though, and I’m finding I like the idea more than I did when I first heard about it. My 25th birthday is in about a month and a half, and yesterday I decided that it would probably a good time to start on a list of goals, some silly, some serious.

I think the main reason I’ve put off choosing to write such a list is that I don’t like to fail, and I’ve always felt that writing out a list of 101 goals seemed like setting myself up for failure. I’ve decided now, though, that maybe it doesn’t have to be a failure, even if I don’t check off all 101 items in 2.75 years. Maybe it will have been just enough to have made an effort on them, to have checked a few things off the list. I’m trying to keep that in mind as I’m putting the list together too… there have been a few things I’ve thought of, and hesitated to put on the list, or didn’t write down because in the back of my mind I’m thinking, “Hmm… that might be difficult to accomplish in the next 3ish years.” So there are plenty of things on the list that should be easy to tick off, but I want to put some items on there that will be a stretch too. That is, after all, the whole point.

One thing I want to put on there is to find some cheap hotels and get out of here for awhile, on a girls weekend maybe. Don’t worry, I’ll share the whole list with you when I get it finished. Project begins August 18, 2008 with a 1001-day end date in May of 2011!
